My 65 Sport Fury 4sp console did not originally come with a tach. The guy I got the car from had a used one he threw in with the deal, but it was completely rotted and with a bunch of spaghetti wiring.

This is not a correct resto or a period correct car, just a really nice driver.

Anyone know the "right" aftermarket tach to get that will fit?

You can make a Sun Super Tach work, but it's far from a bolt in, in fact you can see some of the plywood I used to fit mine under the shifter opening. Been meaning to get one of the original ones updated, (there's a kit out to do that), but it's only one of the many things I haven't gotten around to yet.

Be aware the factory unit requires a separate sending unit. The new update kits out there do away with that, but add the kit to the price you'll pay for a tach - while cheaper than adding resto/calibration service to the price of the tach is still not cheap.

Blank gauge pods just don't look right. Heck, even a non-working tach or vac gauge looks better than that blank.
