Tailight emulation...a source of flattery.

Such a good design, they were bound to be copied or at least an inspiration..
My 67 Monaco 500..and modern day Audi Q5..lol

Lots of cars have that triangle look. I think designers have run out of ideas. Almost all cars have the same jelly bean design. If the badges on the Infiniti were changed to Mercedes, would anyone notice?

The side view of trucks haven't changed since 1957. Designers just keep making rims ridiculously larger and changing the design of led lights.

It's amazing to me how small both front and back marker lights have become.
Love the old style. You can see them from a mile away.

I have always enjoyed the ‘across the rear’ tail lights. I had a 69 Cougar that had sequential turn signals and to me, that was the epitome of tail lights.
Mel, our 1995 Buick Roadmaster Limited has nice taillights and I have thought about making them sequential (I still have the sequential turn signal box from that Cougar).

I've thought about this same idea as well, usually while sitting in traffic staring at the backs of cars.. but figured the 67 polara/monaco wasn't too original itself either... Regardless, I of course think it's the best design.

I see the same type of thing on modern cars as well, the new Camry, BMW's and even the Hyundai accent iirc.. among others- like Northcoast said, it's all kind of the same now unfortunately.

I can’t think of a modern match to these.

If the car designers in the 1950s had access to the LED and light pipe tech that they have now, imagine what kind of crazy lighting systems they would have made for cars back then!

My mom is actually trading in her Buick Verano today. I always thought it had a similar "angry" design as the '67 Monaco, obviously not nearly as beautiful. Todays current taillight king, in my opinion is hands down Porsche.

Before I bought my Scat Pack, I seen a car that I could not identify driving in front of me. I got closer and it was infact a newer charger with a tail light treatment that made it look similar to a 69/70. It was perfect IMO

I did it to mine.

I always thought those Buicks look like an angry beaver from the back. The license plate is its big teeth.
Ha! I see it now! And I am reminded of the time my Mom sold the car I grew up in. It would have been around 1990, the car was a totally clapped out 1980 Bel Air wagon that took us on many adventures. It sold for 300$ to a Mr. Beaverbones. Being kids we got a cheap chuckle out of his name. As we were watching the ol' wagon drive away one last time my Mom worriedly wondered to my Dad if he had insurance. Dad asked if he paid cash, Mom replied "yes", Dad said "Don't worry about it".

I forgot to mention who Porsche is emulating, my favourite fuselage taillight, 1970 300.
