The Comfort Tour

That house is awesome! Congratulations especially for the tasteful interior - I like ever single piece of it: Speakers, the Helmet, windows, lamps...it would have been easy to put an Eames chair in the living room and two Bauhaus Barcelona nearby, but your choice was way better. All in all a fine piece of art!
Thanks for the kind words but it's not my place, I just helped build it and became good friends with the owner in the process. He is a vintage furniture dealer out in LA and doesn't make it out here very much anymore which is why this place is for sale. He used to have his shop in NYC when he had this place built as a weekend getaway. I will say I wouldn't change much if it were mine and I do have a pair of Knoll Barcelonas from the '50s that would look killer here.

Does somebody live there or is a Bed & Breakfast or rent it for a week type of place?
It's a good friends place for now and as long as he owns it I can come and go as I please and get married here this weekend....:)

William Massie is the architect who designed it, also a good friend.

We did Niagara Falls on the way home from Carlisle a couple of years ago and went over the Queenstown/Lewiston bridge on the way here but were to anxious to get here to make any stops.
Not sure about the way home yet.
ok, if you do come through give me a holler and we will see if we can meet face to face.

Here's one of them at my shop. It's mate is in storage as I don't really have any place to put it at the moment. The original cushions are pretty crispy but I like the look of them, they are survivors! Knoll is still making these chairs to this day and I'd like to eventually get replacement cushions for both chairs and save the originals, of course. I think that just the cushions are around $3,300 per chair.

Had the first mechanical glitch! A pinhole leak at the top of the radiator. Thankfully there's a damn good little radiator shop in Kingston called Captain Hooks. A quick silver solder, 40 bucks and a half an hour later and we were back in business! More on Captain Hooks later.

You should extend your honeymoon for a few days and stop at the show at Carlisle on the way back Matt!

Lol!! I wish Bob but that's over a month away, my clients would be on a witch hunt!:mob:

Have you decided what route you'll be taking back home Matt? If you come across I-86 it would be great to grab a beer and burger with you guys in Corning. Beautiful ride across the southern tier of NY. Maybe we could hook up.

Steve's shop was very nice and clean. If anybody in the Hudson Valley ever needs any radiator or gas tank work, he's your man for sure!

That sounds like a very tempting offer. I think Tuesday is our travel day so I'll keep you in the loop.

Steve and another guy that works out of his place have got some cars too.

Something was just not right on the black wagon....

I knew it!

Ma Mopar had a fair in late 50's and that wagon was a result...

Thanks for the pics and story so far, Matt!
