I'm failing to see what is wrong here LOL, in pulling many of these cars interiors apart back in the 70's to install stereo's I would constantly find all sorts of 'Extra's' under the carpet and nooks & crannies, screws, bolts, clips, (didn't find any infamous coke bottles).
The painted in debris in the (what do you call?), re-enforcing channel is a sure sign of a un-dipped, or sand-blasted body that would be correct for coming off the assembly line.

I'm really surprised the resto shows don't bring this up and try to replicate it.

Hey the assembly line gotta keep moving, no time to pickup the "drops".

Yes a true resto "just how it left the factory floor" would have the guys throwing all the vinyl cut offs on the floor before the carpet goes in.
That seam sealer is sometimes all that is left of a trunk.

I had at least a half dozen different fasteners under Goldie's carpet when I pulled it. I have a feeling it would be odd if there weren't any at all. :)

Nothing unusual IMHO. My yellow '68 Sport Fury had a 16" long piece of welding wire sticking up out of the trunk floor to trunk floor extension seam sealer on the right side. Stuck or welded in at both ends leaving the wire like a handle.

Thanks for sharing..
hey..maybe you can call up Angie in Joisey!! That's if her number is still any good!!LOL

As college summer help in an assembly plant around that time that work looks familiar.
Every night I was learning a different job on the line finally getting it down at end of shift.

That's a clean car. What is it's fate? Too bad it has such a boring driveline.
Nothing boring about a 2bbl 383 when compared to the slant six and 318 engine options that year.
Prior to the Challenger, the Charger was competing against the Mercury Cougar in the personal luxury market. so comparitively speaking this survivor Charger was at par with a 351 2V Cougar--both rated at 290HP but the Charger had much more torque.
Let's not forget the new for 69 the 265HP 400 2bbl base Grand Prix Model J offered by Pontiac.

Yes they have boring drivelines also. My Charger was one of these, the good is original was gone and car was rusty so that opened it up to do what I want without remorse. The car in the thread is so original that you are stuck with it's originality. Not my kind of car.

NONONONO! The base engine was a 350HP 400, optional was a 370HP 428 and 390HP 428. 400 2bbl was a downgrade option for the GTO. If the 265 engine was available in the GP, I'm not aware of it. IF it was, it would have been a downgrade option. FWIW, I've never seen either equipped with the downgrade engine.

It's okay, I'm generally not much on brand X, but had a '69 SJ 428 370 HP for many years. I had to sell it when I got the 300. :BangHead:
