Does anyone have a list of the sizes of T bars vs application? I'm assuming that they would be '71-'73 and '69-'70? I got a set of T bars out of a '73 400 Fury and they are smaller then those in my '69 318 car. I haven't measured them against my '73 yet though.

I've just become really curious about this now.

Nick

The 400 car ones are 575L and 574R

All you need to know, Nick, is that there are three factory T-Bars for C-bodies.
.94", .96", and .96" in diameter. Just check which of the two lengths you want.

Hey commando1, if a Plymouth has a 318, it will have.98, a 383 will have .94. .98 being stiffer, so .98's with a 383 will have a slightly "stiffer" feel over choppy roads? Am I reading this right?

Thanks Commando1, good consolidated info. So for Plymouth it breaks down this way.
Standard on all station wagons and 383 cars are the .94 Torsion Bars (Light) 2269 574-5

Standard on all 6 cylinder cars .96 Torsion Bars (Medium) 2269 576-7

Standard on all 318, 440, Police, and Taxi’s and heavy duty and extreme suspension optioned cars .98 Torsion Bars (Heavy) 2269 578-9

It surprises me that the 6 cylinder cars had .96 (medium) bars but the wagons and 383 cars had the .94 (light) bars. That seems backward. Also surprising that the 318 cars would have the .98 (heavy) bars. I know the weight difference would be negligible for any V8, but the torque is higher in the BB's and the fact that wagons were commonly used by handymen in this era, it seems they would have come standard with the heavier bars.

There's more to suspension then the torsion bars and I'm sure there was a reason, anyone have an observation or opinion on why this would be?

I googled the /6 weight and from most sources, it's about 50 lbs lighter than a small block.

Some speculating.... I wonder it the difference might be that the weight of the /6 is distributed farther forward in the car. The only other thing I could think of would be the /6 was usually in some sort of fleet car or taxi. Perhaps they just spec'd the larger bars as part of the fleet package.
