Well I moved out here in sleepy Youngville, NC 15 years ago. There won't much happening then. This has changed. Over the years they have built 4 sub divisions within 5 miles. 2 years ago they built a new high school 5 miles down the road. Last year they started on a 250 house sub division across from the new school. 4 months ago about 5 miles in the other direction they started on another large sub division. 3 months ago out on the highway that bypasses the town they started on a large sub division. This evening as I drive home from work I see this large for sale sign on the corner of the large wooded area that right next to me. As I got closer I could see a sold sign & 2 large earth moving machines parked in the edge of the woods. My heart sank. I knew what this meant. I called my neighbor & he confirmed. Sub division with 100 homes right in my back yard. He said they went to the lady who lives on the other side of the wooded area & offered to buy her out. He said you'll be hearing from them soon Bob. They want road frontage. He said Denise told them no. Where on earth would I go. It's like this all over central NC. It's like Miami in the 60's around here. It ain't gonna stop. Lots of large wooded tracks around here. The economy is strong here. The old folks are dying out & the kids are selling.

Although austin tx isn't a sleepy little town 127 people a day are moving here. In the 10 years I've been here traffic is worse then when I lived in dc. Packing up my house and the 300 and heading back up north. To a small town outside buffalo ny. Sad to leave but it's too much here! Plus need to get home to help out my parents in their older years. I told the 300 she is going home, my grandfather isn't well and unfortunately had to go into a nursing home so I'm buying his house. The 300 was my grandfather's so it's going back to its home!

Yea who'd a thunk 50 thousand people would want to move to Youngsville, NC when Raleigh is just up the road & has everything you could want. All we have out here is a strip mall & 2 high schools

I moved to Sebring in 06 and I thought I was a million miles from anything.
Now I need to move even further out...

Where you moving to near buffalo? I grew up there, and I'm headed there in an hour. Visiting my folks. Buffalo is a great city!

It's similar here in Lexington, NC. My uncle owns ~10 ac across from me and got a letter in the mail last week about purchasing "large tracts". Luckily he's not selling nor are my neighbors who own a horse farm and ~150 ac. Sadly, another large land owning neighbor just died last week and I'm sure half of the heirs will want to sell asap.

Lexngton, NC is a great area. Had a chance to move there 15 years ago. Ended up in Youngsville instead. I'm sure the same thing is happening there

Yep, they've built more houses out around me too.... and along with new houses come new neighbors that do crap like call the zoning office and *****.

Bob, you have two choices and neither one is good. You could sell... although it might be better to hold out a little... and move somewhere else. You could stay, but be prepared for the new neighbors not being car friendly.

Sorry to hear about this...

I've mentioned they strip mined all around me, 5 years till they can 6 till my kid is out of school. If by some chance it goes to a housing plan I'm sure the complaints would start about a straight stack truck starting at 3am, add in the winters and south of NC looks pretty good. Good luck Bob, take the money and run.
