I'm willing to bet that is the same building and has been radically altered over the years. I see a lot of visual clues.
Not sure about your area, but around here, if you don't keep the exterior walls abutting the sidewalk during renovations you will have to build to current setback regs.
 
One of the many "dealership rows" in Detroit. Livernois Avenue at Grand River.

1953, Looking south on Livernois ... there are at least 8 dealerships in this picture. The arrow in upper left is bell tower of St. Cecelia's Church

Roughly same view in 2013, street view and Earth view. The remants of dealership row are there .. a bunch of used car lots are still around, gas stations, fast food, etc. and yes, St. Cecilia is still there.

The one Imperial dealer on Livernois in Detroit in 1957... can't find it yet but in time maybe.
