Washer Bottle Restoration

I have a decent washer bottle for my 72 Imperial restoration. I am wondering if anyone has done anything to the color of the plastic to make it look like new? I think after 50 years, all of the plastic bottles have yellowed considerably. Or, do I just clean it up and go with the aged/yellowed look?

If Darth's idea doesn't work, then try to find a new one or just go with what you have.

Yellow plastic from a hot engine usually = fragile and brittle. Mine fell apart.

I'd just clean and use as is.

The bottle is going to be fragile so anything you do takes a big chance in ruining the bottle.

Washer bottles are NOT made of ABS plastics. They are made from polypropylene and yellowing is due to the degradation of the PP itself and isn't something you are going to bleach out.

if it makes you feel any better earlier style reproduction bottles are available in both white and "yellowed" so they look more like an original bottle...

Not sure there is a reproduction for fusie Imperials. I will recheck.

They weren't as white as some of the repops are even when they were brand new.

The repops are GLARINGLY white. You can tell it's a repop even with the hood closed!
