I will let Dan chime in on what he did. He did have the rear window area apart to fix the window regulator. If I remember correctly that thing was broke when I bought the car back in '91. I was always too chicken **** to mess with it for fear of damaging something that could not be replaced. Glad to see Dan tackle it.

That is the original material. I just spray painted it as close to color seen in sales brochures. I did this as a trial, that turned out fine. Mine had been painted at least once . I believe the factory rattan was painted.
I did find real rattan on sites for restoring furniture. The fine weave 1/8" looked like exact replacement. A member here did his with new rattan and just clearcoated it. You still see the color variations in natural wicker/rattan. Looked great.

I thought the rattan was only original for the first year Monaco (65).
