Hey all- thanks again for reading. Need help on recommendations for a fresh 383 rebuild. Originally, the motor was a 2 bbl, during the rebuild I decided to complete the conversion and decided to go to 4 bbl. with a 383 Performer Edlebrock aluminum intake.

I am a mile high above sea level and hear this can play a role in tuning etc.

If this has already been discussed I apologize, this would be a great sticky thread for all who are here on this forum. Again if this has been discussed then pointing me in the right direction is much appreciated.

383*5500(max rpm)/3456=609.5 CFM.
I'd go 600-650 CFM. Edelbrock 1406 will do nicely.

I've read those come with electronic choke? Is that true?

Did they come with Holley from the factory?
Yes the Edelbrock can be ordered with electronic choke or manual choke. The Edelbrock is a "reproduction" of the stock Carter. A stock carb on a '67 (maybe '68) 383 auto is a Carter 4131s with 570CFM. Holley's came as stock on only a few, later, high performance vehicles, I believe.

If you go with the Edelbrock carburetor you may need to lean it for high altitude driving. After you get the engine running check the spark plugs after a cruise, if black lean it out. You can get a tuning kit for the Edelbrock carburetors.
