Hi everyone,

I bought a 318 Air Cleaner sticker last summer being reassured that it was the correct one for my Poly but it isn't the same.

It only cost me $15 for a sticker... FIFTEEN BUCKS for a sticker!!! that isn't the right one...:soapbox:

So hear is a question for everyone who wishes to have a say in it.

Which would you choose if you could find the right sticker or suck it up and up the newer 318 sticker?
Decide which you like best.

If the original style is readily available can you tell me where i can get one? Thanks!

I don't see the problem? It looks like an exact reproduction of the decal used on all 1957-1991 318s.

OK ....... One more time guys ....... You want original .....? There were NO 318 engine call out stickers on the air filter lid of ANY 318 poly's....... !!!! Just black paint.

Those valve cover stickers are a take off of the 426 Golden commando and Ramcharger stickers from 63-64. Someone made them up ..... Nice, but not OEM.

OK, I can accept that fact.

This decal/sticker looks period correct though.
It has been on this air cleaner for many years

I would like to maintain that look correct of not.. :)

I appreciate your input on this subject.
It's great to have members that know their stuff.

OH! one last comment on this..

This is a Canadian car which could account for this decal being on this air cleaner..

I agree ...... the sticker looks great. You should keep it in place.

The thread ,(and poll), started with a reference toward it being "original", or "as original". This can be very confusing to some who are not well versed in such things. It's how rumors and untruths are established. Some poor guy reads this ....... and goes around stating that all 318's with out a sticker are incorrect and try to argue the point with a judge at their local show.

Seems silly ..... but it happens.

Put your sticker on ..... It looks great. :icon_thumright: Just don't present it as "original".

Thanks Bluefury361.
I will keep that in mind.

I am still a relative 'Newb" when it comes to original. I thought it was.

I can still present it as an original "After thought!" decal. LOL!!!

I'm still going to dig into fins out if this is a CDN only decal..

The 318 poly was discontinued in American vehicles after the 1966 model year and after the 1967 model year on Canadian vehicles.
The 67 Canadian poly 318's also did not have a engine call out on the air filter. The 67 truck engines did have a sticker on the right, (pass), side valve cover as I mentioned earlier.

I hope this helps.

I would put the sticker (trimmed or not) on that flexible refrigerator magnet material and the put it on the air cleaner...removable for the factory look/ when you want/ need to clean things and reusable.
