Good evening and Merry Christmas Eve,

I have a 440 i pulled out of my 67 Chrysler 300 and i an not sure it's worth. It has a forged steel crank, "LY" Rods, and 516 heads. The block appears to be in excellent condition and the bores look like they have never been oversized which makes sense since the pistons appear to be stock.

I have wrapped all of the oily parts in plastic wrap besides the block (still need to do that).

Any thoughts on the value? Thank you.

Really depends might have a guy looking for that date. 500-?

It would sell quickly if offered at twice that price even here in the Detroit area.

$500 is a gift.
what else do you have for it?
What does it have stamped on this Pad?

I have pretty much everything for it besides the carb.

Oil Pan, Valve Covers, i believe i have the stock exhaust manifolds somewhere, intake manifold, oil pump, oil pump gear, damper, oil pick up, push rods, main seal plate, i even have the stock cam still sitting around for some reason.

I will have to see what that date is when i go over to my storage unit today.

So it looks like it's a 67 440 block which checks out because my 300 is a 67. So it is mostly likely the original block i think?

The cross and X mean and correct me if i ak wrong, the rod journals are .010 undersized. Which it came from the factory like that.

I am not sure what the "9" and "27" mean

9-27 is the assembly date and the cross and the X have separate meanings and my code book is out of reach at the moment…

I'd price at $1000 obo. 2406516 heads – 1964-1967, 361/383 B/RB-series big-block, 2.08/1.60 valves, 73.5cc, 300L. A lot of people like the closed chamber heads.

1967 engines do not have VIN numbers. C is 1967. 1966 casting date is date matching. I think it is your original block. I'd keep it, because having it makes your car worth more to a potential restorer.

The 440 in my silver Imperial had 516’s on it originally.

Via the 1967 Dodge service manual, Maltese Cross and X indicates U/S (undersize) Crankshaft.
M-2-3 etc. (indicating No. 2 & 3 main bearing journal) on Crankshaft Counterweight etc...
and/or
R-1-4 etc. (indicating No. 1 & 4 connecting rod journals)

R1 -= .001" undersize, R-10 = all .010" undersize etc same for the mains.
