Who remembers Uni Roy & Al

Right out of high school and wanting a break from school I got a job at a local tire store as a grease monkey. The usual stuff a 19 year kid did in a tire store. Busted 'changed ' a lot of tires in a 3 bay shop that was way below grade. Sorta Like a basement. It was hot in the summer. We sold 3 brands of tires. Michelin for the customers with the nice full size cars. Lots of of Caddys as the store owner was a Caddy man & had friends with Caddys. Uni royals for all the other American cars & trucks & Continental for the Imports. We had a lot of trouble the the Uniroyals. Difficult to balance. Lots of warrantys. I hated the damn things. Mount, balance, too much weight. Take back to tire machine. Turn tire 180 degrees. Back to spin balancer. Too much weight still. Take tire off. Go across busy street to warehouse to get another tire. Repeat process until i ran out of tires or finally got 4 to balance out. The Michelin & Continentals would almost always balance with less than 1/2 ounce. The Caddy or Import driver was out in 30 minutes. The guy who bought the Uni's would come the window after about 2 hours wondering what's taking so long
