so I took apart the passenger rear quarter window assembly apart today as I am getting the car ready for paint and found that one of the slide parts is broken. Anyone have any ideas or parts cars that might have one? I have thought about having a machine shop custom fab one but I'd still need the roller assembly on the one half. The first photo shows the broken portion that holds one of the rollers, the other pic shows what its supposed to look like

I'd like to push that, because I need the same part over here for a 68 Fury. Fortunately, My metal parts are ok, but I need the roller replaced.
Your sliding pieces seems to be mounted differently. My plastic roller is cast around the metal.

I was thinking about cracking the rest of the plastic and weld two washers onto it. You could do the washer trick even without welding.

Any other ideas how to fix that?

If it were mine, I would make a roller out of Delrin (or something similar) and figure out how to mount it. I would not use washers. I do have good machining capability so that is not a hard fix for me. Probably need to take the spring off to make it easier to work on.

Hot Fury - did you ever fix yours? I think yours is toast. Somewhere I have extra 65 roller assemblies and be happy to send you one if you still need it. I assume they would be the same.

Good evening Sir, I have the same style roller as @HOT FURY and it is broken just like his. Would you happen to have a good one that I can buy from you. @rapidtrans linked me to this thread and said you might could help me. He actually sent me one in the mail (USPS) and those idiots lost it at the processing center. If you could spare one I'd greatly appreciate it. It's the style that attaches with a nut.

Thank you,
Daniel

@Dodge
Can you post a picture of yours?

I can answer that if I may. Don’t think Dodge has dis-assembled his window yet.
This is the roller he needs. The upper guide roller. It bolts through the frame.

Thanks for your reply. I have an upper white roller left from a restoration kit, that fits. my problem is how to mount it. I don't want to break the remains until I figured that out. does anyone know how the metal part looks under the roller? is it cylindric like the upper ones you fix with a safety washer?

I was thinking about cleaning and gluing the roller onto the metal.

The other pictures helped a lot. Didn't know the other one is screwed to the other part. Mine is sliding on both ends. Git it now :)

If someone has a complete slider left over that fits for me and wants to sell it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot!!!

Will take me a few days to check my inventory. I will let you all know what I find in my stash.

sorry such late reply, I actually found someone online that had a used on in great condition. I actually ordered new rollers and sliders for all the window assemblies as well. Should be done at the paint shop soon so will see how everything works as I start to reassemble the car afterwards.

Well I have been moving and found a bunch of them. I can honestly say that none of the ones that I came across are worth anything. Most are cracked. So looks like its a very common problem.

So my suggestion is to get them made. I could make them but with my move I will be out of commission with my machine shop for probably the better part of 2022..........

Did you guys ever sort this out? I have been buying some rollers from various sources to see if I can re and re one of my broken ones, but it seems that no one makes the large rollers that are used in the vertical guides. These rollers are 1 and 1/16 in diameter and on my 67 300, they are not mounted on the ball and pivot. Apparently the ball and pivot style, it has been said that you cannot replace the large rollers, but I am not so sure. You could cut the end off next to the roller and then tap a small metal screw into the shaft to hold the roller on, but as said, I cannot find anyone who has the larger rollers. I have purchased a few of the ball and pivot style, and find that I cannot use them. Cam Shaft
