That is great stuff to see. Thanks for posting the pics! Got any more? I used to live off Woodward Ave as a kid in Dearborn in the very early 60's. I saw the hot rods of the time then. I remember all the rear ends were slammed down like they were dragging their asses. I guess they thought then the rear tires would plant better off the line and the weight transfer to the rear was already done even before they hit the gas! Maybe it was a quick fad cause I never see retro hot rods that do that now.
Steve, I'd be willing to bet that black 300C belongs to the president of the Eastern 300 club. That's his back yard yeah know. ...Thanks for the pix Greg, Jer
I enjoyed several evenings out on the ave this week but only snapped a few pics. I had the vert out on Thursday and Saturday and the Imp on Friday. I'm not a big picture taker anymore though, sorry fellas.
There were lots of nice cars out this week and there was also the usual out of the ordinary...
The wife was feeling patriotic and I couldn't help being inspired by this, hats off gentlemen...
I stopped going years ago. I used to be able to hear the cars from the house, but now they're drowned out by all the planes dragging banners from Pontiac to Ferndale. It's kinda tuned into a zoo. This year an old vette was stolen. Last year Papa John's Camaro was stolen. Later found parked downtown at an abandoned house. The early years were great. Burn-outs from every stoplight!
I saw this driving past at a distance, could see a SC, but nothing else. Now if you want to do different, this is the way! Not a ricer engine in an A-body, # barf.
I perfected my Woodward technique years ago... Go during the week, on Saturday arrive at 8 AM and make one northbound pass to Pontiac, then SB to 696 and get otta Dodge. Exactly what I did this year, except I got on I-75 headed for Toledo for an afternoon with in-laws. That's why the whole clan (including baby and dog) was in our "family-car" Town & Country minivan Plymouth Fury.
Growling at Mustangs... (With super thick blanket over seat)
This two-tone Lincoln is for Stan... Your brotha from anotha mutha...
First Camaro ever built. Within moments of being completed, barbers across America began ignoring the hair at the back of the human head, and The Detroit Free Press received a classified ad stating: For Sale, gold Camero, need rent muney, best offer.
Of course...
Yea R-bodies!
Textbook C-body
Very first car I saw...
So glad I got a CoLoR cell phone this year...
I like these Fords... Shoot me..
Just one small part of the Chrysler Tech Center parking lot the Friday before cruise day...
All you bucket-listers... highly recommend you come days/one week before the actual Sat. event. The official day is almost too big/crowded to enjoy. That's why I just buzz through early.
