WTB Pre-73 gear reduction starter

Ah thats interesting, i will dig out an earlier starter then and cross check the size of the gear drives with the one i offered zac, stay tuned....

No rush on my end Gary! The big block is no where near ready for the car, or visa versa. I was gonna crawl under, and get a few pics/remove the starter in the car currently, but got busy doing metal work again, and forgot. I'll try for it tomarrow as well. Thank you for looking into it!

Alan, I think your right! Maybe I would just need to order it online, and have it shipped to the store.. They do have diff starters listed for a 69 charger 440 vs the 75 monaco. The black housing on the older one looks shorter as well..

Maybe they will let me compare them in the parking lot!? lol

Hi Zac, i pulled the covers on both the 68 starter and the rebuilt unit and you will see yes they both have the short black housing and also the 3 to 1 reduction drives in place. If when the shop orders a starter in for you, prise off the sheet metal cover to see if the gears are these size.

Well I about crapped my pants this afternoon. There was a starter awaiting me when I got home. Thank you Gary!! That was FAST!!!!

Here they are side by side- 68 on the left (obviously)


I swapped em out, but.... So far it sounds pretty much the same... Do you guys think it will sound any different on the 440??

For shits and giggles I hooked a gas can up, and dropped a bit of gas down the carb. She hasnt run since september. She fired right up! Shes screaming I aint dead yet! lol
