The Bluesmobile

Judgement day is upon us! Power steering hooked up, new a/c condenser installed, along with the aux trans cooler, and new trans dipstick. Lokar throttle cable, bracket, and kickdown cable installed. Tranny cooler lines are hooked up. Not the happiest with them. Tried 2 diff flaring tools to no avail. Maybe the steel line is cheap? Idk.. but myself, and a friend could not get em to flare. So has 1/8 to 5/16 nipples on for now. Goes rubber steel then rubber. Will prolly have these re done down the road when she's operational.

Radiator is filled with coolant, and motor filled with comp cams break in oil. Feeling a little iffy on the valve covers... had a tiny seep out of one of the bolts when filling. Tightened em all up a little more. We shall see. Other then that no leaks. Yet!

Picked up some cheap exhaust flanges, and a piece of flexible "exhaust tube repair" to try and keep the heat off the new paint.

Gotta pick up some trans fluid, power steering fluid, and a piece of fuel hose tomorrow. Gonna run a hose from the fuel pump to a gas can as the fuel tank is not hooked up 100% yet. Also gotta install the exhaust dumps tomorrow night.

What kind of tranny fluid are y'all running?? I've always used the newer atf+4. But damn is that stuff getting pricey$$!

Saturday is the day! God I hope this thing fires lol

Oh what a Nail Biter!!! Come on Saturday!! Keep us posted..

Are you doing a double flare?

There's a few tricks. Deburr the tube inside and out. A dab of grease helps too.

Cutting the end with a Dremel and a cut off wheel might help. Using a tube cutter sometimes "work hardens" the end of the tube, especially if the cutter is a little dull or you used to much force to cut it faster.

Never done it that way, but the bigger tube is a little harder to work. I would expect trouble from the smaller 1/8th tube, it's bound to create pressure where there should be none.

Muwahahahahaha!!! IT'S AAALLLIIIVVEEEE!!!!!!!!

My buddy came over to help for the day. Only had 2 hiccups. Starter wires weren't tightened down all the way. Wouldn't turn over at first. But fired after tightening. Next was the new hei dizzy wasn't wired correctly. After messing with it for an hour or so got it figured out. She came right to life on first bump of the key!

After 30 mins of break in topped the trans and power steering. Also played with the timing and carb a tiny bit. Running real good so far!

I'm tickled pink right now! Sooo happy! lol

After all mentioned above, bled the brakes and had to take her around the block a couple times!! Only thing I notice so far is a bind up somewhere in the driver side steering linkage. It jolts the car pretty good in a certain spot. Hoping it's just hitting the exhaust dump on that side. But was too happy to crawl back under it for the day lol. Will check it out the next couple days.

The paint on the manifolds is boiling right off... damnit!

F-ing Awesome!...

It's Florida... but you still need the tail lights to be street legal:poke:

Idk don't think they would give a damn round here. At least the bulbs are lighting up lol.

Thanks!!

Your neighbors must know you well by now! My neighbors would have a frickin stroke if I drove around the block sounding that cool! If it ain't a BMW or Merc you're a redneck round here..excellent work Zac!

Cool! In my mind, looking at the car driving without doors, the first thing that pops into my mind is Buford T Justice driving his decapitated car.

Awesome!!! One more project a little closer to being finished. I assume you need to put the rest of the exhaust on it still? I could see the pipes at the manifolds.

F$ck em!! lol I gotta deal with there little hellians running around, they gotta put up with me haha. Actually can't complain. No problems out of em car related. A few of em are pretty interested, and usually come running out to see what's going on if something "big" is happening. But don't really talk with any of em, and visa versa.

I did laugh my *** off yesterday. There was a little party at a house right around that corner. Each time I pulled around they had the most puzzled/disgusted/wth looks. It was great!

LOL I can see that!

Thanks! Yea still need exhaust. That will be the last piece, after she's painted and ready to go.

Wow, Zack! That must feel good, great job!

Thank you! It felt awesome!

Zac, I've been waiting for this day for what seems like forever.
Awesome doesn't even begin to describe it.

Same here man! Only took 5 years lol thanks!

I've forgotten how fun this part is. Always think I'll blast through it. But no... lol

Going in sections. Passenger side is done( except for a final sanding before paint). About half way through on the driver side. Gotta sand it down again, and add another layer of filler.

Rear bumper is NOT coming off. It didn't want to last time, but figured I'd try again. Gonna make things a little more difficult. Plus I can't pull the plastic filler to paint.
