The beginning of a new life and a new build!

Been reading thru this, if things work out and you get back to wrenching on the 65 and find you need trim...I have a bunch of it in the garage I took of a 65 I cut up for parts. If there is anything you need and I have it, its yours for the cost of shipping. I have no use for it. Just PM me and let me know if it comes to it.

You have a PM my friend! Thanks!:yourock:

Well another small update. I have finally gotten the power steering pump and the alternator mounted back on the front of the engine. Just ordered a new ac compressor mount that I am working with a company to modify to work with the factory power steering brackets. I will try to get a pic or two when I can get some more light under the hood. It is getting very black under there lately!:yaayy:

Black is good!!! :)

Yes it is and I am very envious of your car! Can't wait to see it all back together and running. Hoping mine will be back and running by the end of the month. This separation deal is really killing any cash I have to buy stuff for the car. Not much left that will cost much though so I can piece it back together hopefully.

I hear ya! I'm envious of Kellycom's car too. I'm in the same boat with funds to go into my car,.. so don't feel bad man. We'll get our cars done. Looking forward to seeing the pics!!

I'm glad you guys like my Sport Fury. I've been without the car for about 2 1/2 years and the finish line @ the body shop is no where in site. I'm ok with it as they are doing top notch work. I dont pressure them to get it done as the garage and driveway are filled with other projects. It's a bit of a pain spreading the money around to 3 projects. Especially when the body shop calls and says you need X (insert part(s) as they seem to bunch up working on the car. so it makes it hard to plan and budget money for it.

I envy you guys because you'll be driving yours long before I'll be driving mine. Keep tabs on my build thread though as there will be new photos in the coming weeks.

Not the best pic but here is what it looks like as of this morning under the hood. Not enough light but its supposed to be black under there!

Not the factory ac. I ordered a new compressor mount two days ago for the Sanden 508 compressor and I will be putting a Vintage air system in the car. It will help clean up the fire wall and make finding replacement parts a little easier. And it helps that the kit was the right price! Free! LOL. I will have to do some "engineering" on the bracket to get it to work correctly with the factory power steering brackets but that was a part of the deal for the bracket I am about to get. But I am pretty happy with how its starting to look under the hood. I should be getting the thermostat and the water pump on Friday so I will be able to start to wrap up all of the under hood stuff. I just have to get a carb kit and build the Holley that is sitting on the work bench. I think tonight I am going to get our there and clean up in the garage a bit. Getting hard to find any tools lately.

That's right you did mention the A/C,.getting old and forgetting ****. Yeah my tools are everywhere and it's a mess in my Shed I work out of. Wish I had a garage man. Ever since I got divorced, it's been down hill on trying to get a place with a garage! I'm sure it's not helping my car sitting outside year around, but it's covered.

I'll be very interested to see your A/C setup when done. At some point I'll want to add A/C. A completely black car in Florida can get stupid hot. LOL.

I will post progress pics when I am doing it. I am the guinea pig for this bracket so I told them I would post pics and give feed back to them so they can modify the kit to work on our systems.

Well the brackets showed up and I do have to say that the pictures really do not do these pieces any justice. Here are some of the brackets themselves.

And here is the compressor mounted. I did run into an issue with the power steering bracket and the AC bracket working together. I am going to look at it a little more tonight and tomorrow and see if I can come up with a good way to resolve the problem. Already talked to CVF about the issue and they are wanting me to help them come up with a solution to hopefully get it to where their bracket will work with all of the other stock stuff. So here are the pics.

Interesting BJS. I'd forgotten the #508 waz the # of the Phord unit that I used when I mounted it on the Batwagon. All I remembered waz that the Phord Sanden iz the only one that mountz horizontally and that'z what I needed and wanted for my application. The difference iz that I mounted the Sanden under the alternator 'cuz it kept all the snakes off the cross ramz. Bracket fabing the dual purpose bracket waz ah PITA tho'. Funny thing iz that not one person in the 6 yearz the beast haz been on the scene haz picked up on the location of that Sanden, or at least made a comment on it. Go figger? Jer

Looks nice BJS. I was going to mention they may want to look into an under the alternator mount. For mine when i add A/C i was going to look into an under the alt mount. Having it there makes for a nice clean looking top of the engine. It also opens different air cleaner options. Like running the Six Pack type air cleaner. I've heard those have issues with A/C compressors.

All in all the brackets look really nice.

Wow,.very nice Jason. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with for the issue with the power steering pump.

Me too buddy! :hehe: I have a couple of ideas. I will check on them the next day or two. They already told me that if spacers need to be changed just let them know and they will make them up and ship them down to me. So I guess I need to get my yard stick out and wait for the moon to be in the right place for the dial indicator and get some measurements for them. I really can't stress how much I like the finish on these brackets. Really nice machine work and everything actually fit the way it was supposed to with out changing any thing. It took me less than 10 mins to get everything mounted and it only took that long because I refused to look at the instructions for the first 5 mins. Great product so far. Now I'm just going to see if it can be better for more of us.

What about the possibility of moving the alternator over to where the compressor is and moving the compressor where the alternator is located? I think the set-up that March Performance uses locates the Sanden a/c compressor in the same area as the stock compressor but they use a GM type II style power steering pump. Most of those older pumps like the Saginaw units are kind of bulky looking compared to the newer pumps that give a cleaner look. Those brackets do help clean it up alot.
