Remember when you were on the verge of hanging it all up?
And then you refused to...........
I'm glad I didn't, my would-be father-inlaw is partially disabled, but loves cars, he wants to help me, and I want him to help me, he can tell me how and I can do it. It's a way for him to do what he loves, and its a way for us to grow closer, I really like him and respect him, I really love his daughter too, the age difference isn't even really there. They hated her ex, she was alone for 5 years, then we met one night, both our lives got a bit better, It's a good thing I didn't miss the car club meeting that night like I intended, I might have missed out on the one thing that put my life back on track.
I realized that the other night. If it wasn't for my girl, I would of sold the Fury, I might have quit my job, and I don't think I would be as happy as I am, I know for a fact I would be lonely as hell if it wasn't for her.
Her family likes me, my family likes her, more importantly, we like each other. Her parents trust me and they've only know me for a few weeks. I spent two days of my 4 days off work with them, and two days with my car. I headed over Saturday, there only about 45 minutes from my garage, we had lunch, we went out tubing, swam in the river, had dinner, went for icecream, went back out and watched the fireworks from the lake, we came back and I was asked if I wanted to spend the night.................it took her ex 4 years of dating to get that invitation, as of the 7th we will have been officially if you will together for 3 months. I met her a little over 5 weeks before that. So I stayed, I spent Sunday hanging out and doing the same as Saturday, her mom is quite the cook, she says she's going to fatten me up
I said I wouldn't try and fight it. Everyone packed up and was ready to leave, they had to work today, her mom, her and her sister, her dad wasn't coming home till tonight. Her dad and I were watching a movie, and he asked me if I wanted to stay with him and finish the movie. Naturally I said of course, we saw them off, finished watching the movie, and started talking cars, women (specifically his daughter) and life. He asked me if I wanted to spend the night again. I did. We watched a few more movies, talked more, laughed and I can honestly say that I think we're on the same page.
He's okay with me taking his daughter to my friends wedding in two weeks, he's okay with knowing that she will be alone with me far away for a few days.
He told me all about the cars he owned, the cars he worked on, the 225's, 273's, 318's, 340's, 360's, 400 and 440's.
He had a '76 Gran Fury police package, with a 440, he broke the speedometer in it twice topping out past the 140 MPH.
Anyway, I had a good weekend.
I still have tomorrow off. and I already manged to get a lot done, the 318 and 727 are out and the 318 is on the stand and mostly tore down.
I'll post some pictures later.
