1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT Brogham & U code Super Comando

Found this GT in Saskatoon Sask....car was sold originally outa Prince Rupert Sask...
orrignall owner passed on and brother acquired the car ...at some point he parked it and left it...

Next person to buy the car was a fella outa Saskatoon....he had gone to buy another car and seen the GT sitting where the orriginall owners brother left it...in anycase he remembered the car as new in the Prince Rupert dealership and always remembered it to the point he ran across it again and bought it...

He passed away and his wife and son garaged the car for a number of years..during this time they tried to sell it but alas there were no takers....then l rolled onto the scene never even seeing or hearing a 70-71 fury till 3 years ago...had no clue why ld never seen this car or how such a huge car like this could slip by me without at least hearing mention of these vehicles

To make a long story short bought the vehicle and spent the next couple years buying up anything NOS for this car l could find

l lucked out when l met Bill from cdock as he was a wealth of knowlage regarding these cars and schooled me somewhat in regards to what l had....it was also though Bill and Garry that l was introduced to Paul outa Idaho...

Had seen pics of his work and his workshop and knew this was the person to do this restoration....
Now this restorations gona cost me alota coin and wana make this perfectly clear...didn't win a lottery or have a rich daddy...l busted my butt for the last three years to pull this off...l didn't have the time re my buissness or the facility to pull this off properly as it should be right now so figured this was best bet..
some may think me foolish to spend all this coin but what the hell its just coin...in the end hope to have the Best 1971 Plymouth Fury GT Brogham on the planet and with this car belive l can pull it off

heres to Paul...a craftsman at work...

the good and bad news so far...
A. he ran car down hywy @ 70mph..ran great
B. rear end is not a posi rear end...will have to change that
C. rear power antenna...was added after the fact...passenger right front fender has antenna hole...will restore to oem with front antenna

so far so good...things are looking excellent so far...car sheadualed to be completed May 2016

I remember when you got this GT maybe a year or so ago now, maybe longer. I am glad it went to the right owner. You are doing it right, and that is what counts. I am sure you will have the best one out there. Good luck with it.

I hope this thread ends up having a load of pictures of every step you do to the car. It is my plan to get a 1970 Sport Fury coupe of my own in the future and there is VERY little reference work around detailing restorations of this type of car. Yours could be the one to set the standard. If it is anything like the red convertible then I am sure it will be. Kudos to you my friend for doing this, cheers!

same individual that did the convert is doing this car so will be lots of pics....may not be as organized as Bills convert build but will have pics of everything

I see you added a photo of the trunk lock bezel. I used to also have a 1971 SFGT that I had planned to restore, but ended up selling it to a friend of mine in Finland. But like you, I was accumulating some NOS parts for it as well. It was really pretty nice to begin with, but I had planned to do a top notch restoration on it like you. I was so into the car that I even bought an NOS trunk lock bezel emblem for it, and it cost me a ton (probably the last NOS one in existence). But since I let my car go and will focus instead on a 1970 SFGT of mine, also B7( unless Carsten wrings it from my tight hands), I can sell it to you for what I paid for it. Just putting it out there since I will likely never use it now. And I can think of no better car for it than yours.

Here is a photo of the emblem Derek. The edge of the GT symbol is slightly raised and has a metallic texture to it, and that is why the photo seems to show some spots there. It is just the reflective part of the border, as the camera doesn't capture that so well. It is a perfect emblem.

prievious owner Passed on from Prostate cancer...lm dealing with my second go round re prostate cancer but we've got it on the run...this is my 4 th go around with the big C....lm not goin anywhere....Manitoba tough...
things in my life happen for a reason...shoulda been toast many years ago with my exploits but l pull through, count my blessings and move ahead...was one of the reasons l didn't wana go through another 7 year build like my last project...jinxed..no..destined for fame...yes.....never say die.....
