Just watching the Cup race and this came up among the talking heads.

I remember they had a contest for what the initials stood for way back when Studebaker owned STP. I think "Scientifically Treated Petroleum" was the winner. "Studebaker Tickled Pink" was the funny category winner.

Studebaker Tested Products was an early official name too.
 
Did you know it was developed by the nazis? They were losing planes because the engines were designed similarly to autos and if the oil pan was hit, there wasn't much time to get it down

It is said to have been a German wartime invention to add molybdenite (MoS2) to aircraft piston engine oils. However, it was first widely marketed by the Alpha Molykote Corp. as "Molykote" in the US beginning in 1948.
