Was gonna say the Ram truck has to be their bread, and butter. They seem to be all over the place down here. Selling like hot cakes.

Theres a cuda vert in the works? Oh boy..

Ram Trucks are great I drive one as a demo when I could be driving anything else but they are outsold globally by Jeep

I'd love to get a new 2500/3500. They are great looking trucks! Imo. The interiors have come a long way as well. But the price tag they come with is just out of question for me. Any truck nowadays it seems...

When I bought my '03 quad cab ram, at the time was 6 years old. Came pretty much fully loaded, with 4x4, and tow package, ect, ect. I got it for $12k. That was at a dealer, and certified used.

Now days the exact same truck, same age, and all is a $25-30k ride.

I'll stick with my old rig till I hit the lotto lol

Bought it new.
$15 and a ½k.
100X more practical. A tad more practical for my circumstances.
hat-gif.70268

$84.5k bought us a lot of groceries for me. Plus some.
Please notice the hose. Yet the truck has never been washed.

Only voicing an opinion based on wording, probably a bit defensive. "100 x more practical" for you yes but not all. You are proud of v that Ford and rightfully so but many of us use the trucks we have marginally and others to the Max....just something that's been brewing in my head

Yes, but there are a lot of folks that buy trucks based on what they want rather than what they need. I'm not saying you are guilty of this.

I have a diesel Ford Excursion that I love... but it's a lot of truck and quite frankly, if I hadn't gotten such a great deal on it (used), I never would even consider buying one.

If I were to buy a new truck right now, it would be a 1/2 ton, most likely a Ford with an 8' box and it would have to be able to tow my car trailer. The 4WD I have on my Excursion is nice... but in reality, it gets used once or twice a year and once I'm out of my driveway, it gets switched to 2WD. I haven't had more than one other person (except for the occasional grandkid) in my truck in years.

I guess I'm upset with all the 3500HD 4 dr. longbed diesels that don't even have a hitch reciever but have a $2,000.00 sewer pipe exhaust. You know the type. Don't use the running board to enter the cab because the don't want to scuff it...

Can you even buy a basic half ton, 8 ft box truck anymore?

Yup you sure can. Basic Ram 1500 Reg Cab SXT 2WD LWB on sale this week only for FCBO members $25998 CDN bring your wife down and we'll dicker as the car salesman ducks the haymaker.....

Granted, this was in '06 with incentives, rebates, holdbacks, and free hot dogs and handjobs thrown in to get you into the door to sell you the XLT.
I priced an entry level loss-leader 2017 F-150, banner and pennant, clown waving, hood up, Sunday paper, only one in stock, Today Only! Special... You're talking 22 - 23 now.

I can lay a 4X8 sheet down flat in the Admiral and close the tailgate, with a foot left over. Can't do that even with most long bed pickups. AND, it tows my trailer. My 96 Ram 4X4 just sits in the yard now.
I'm thinking that for 20-30K one could put together one heck of a C wagon. And it will hold it's value much better then any new light duty pickup. Cheaper to maintain and insure, plus a lot more fun too.

In all seriousness the price of these trucks has a lot to do with the increased govmint regulation on emissions. When we switched to DEF the trucks took a $9000 jump in MSRP. Now did it really cost that who knows. Some of the truckers I have spoken with said their FL's went up $15000. As it stands if Phord is asking $98000 for a Dually Platinum Crew 4X4 can Ram do no less? Our most poplular HD truck is the SWB 3500 4X4 Laramie that sells for between $68-$72k 0% Financing for 7 years pmts of $335 biweekly. Hemi 1500 version $12-$15k less

Mine has things on it I don't need or want.

For vacation I had trouble getting all the luggage in the true 8 ft bed , it took some manipulating. Five people in the truck for the trip out. I don't always use the whole truck but there are times I do.
I'm not towing a 30 ft trailer with a C body wagon Will...

My plans / blueprints fill my cab during the work week.

So that comes out to just under $20K USD.

Mrs. Big John would say "No f...ing way" to another vehicle.

I filled my Excursion on a regular basis too when I was still working. I had a Chevy panel van (our old delivery van) before that. The Excursion was still over kill. I never carried heavy stuff, but I did need the room it afforded. It will hold a 4x8 plywood sheet of plywood with the back doors closed.
