New beach home.

I got a great deal on a 28' 1980 jayco RV. So we towed it down to Gulf shores this week end and will leave it in the Storage lot of our favorite RV camp as our home away from home.
At $35.00 a month for storage I can't tow it there for that little, and for a extra $5 bucks and a phone call it will be on a site when we get there. Now we can drive down in one of the convertibles and not have to deal with the towing hassles.
We plan on staying in it from mid November through Feb.

Handling was a breeze. At 4800 Lbs trailer weight the 318 got a workout on any long grades though. No problem..... we just enjoyed the scenery.

Not a problem Matt. A 36 year old trailer will always need something. I plan on a total remodel in the forward cabin area. Floor, all new paneling, lighting, curtains, recliners and some built in storage. etc........

Thanks Rip. It's a lot room more then we are accustomed to compared to Connie. A full bathroom, bigger bed, full size fridge..........

Will you have full rv hookups at the camp site Nov to Feb? If so what do they charge? We've found that some rv sites are getting almost as expensive as a hotel room.

The KOA in West Yellowstone was a hundred a night.....ouch, so much for saving on a motel bill

We try and avoid the KOA's and Good Sam camp grounds, as well as anything that includes "resort" in it's name. I don't feel the need to pay extra for a franchise name.

We pay around $28.00 a night at Doc's, less if it's a extended stay. Nice place too, quite, full hookups, pool, clean bath house and great neighbors.
The best deals we've found are the "COE", (corp of engineers), campgrounds. Extremely nice places, all either on water or with water views. My cost per night with my "geaser" pass is $9.00. They don't advertise, you have to find them, (I got a COE camp ground directory off Amazon).

finding great, affordable, camp grounds is all part of the adventure, There's more around then you would think.

Carlyle Lake ... largest lake inside IL btw. I drive past it all the time. I'm not a camper though. Well not yet anyway. I do plan to go do some fishing there next year though.

In April of 1970 I took a date to see the Association and Zager and evans in Lincoln Nebraska, and her father let me use his car. It was an F8 green 1969 Sport Fury Two door hardtop.318 auto loaded up. That was a beautiful car! To this day, I have been looking for an original, to no avail.
