I stumbled across a picture of my '79 Trail Duster in Sunburst Orange that I was telling you about. Scanned from a polaroid so the quality isn't that great.
I'm looking for one but they are very hard to find!

I agree, they would sell more base trucks then they realize.

Some more paint getting sprayed today. Sure is different lol. In direct sun it is orange. In light shade looks dark red. In dark shade/night it looks brown. Pretty cool! Can kinda see it in the pics.

It feels like it sometimes too! Garage is only sooo big lol. We put a shed up last week in the backyard. Still need to find places for stuff.

Neighbors are pretty cool. Most seem to enjoy seeing the work. Ones across the street get a kick out of seeing the transformations.

Busy week. But she is orange!! Took her up to work to get painted. Blocked the body down, and sprayed another coat of primer, and blocked once more. She's pretty straight. Have about 5 coats of paint on her. Hopefully she dries enough to come home tomorrow afternoon/night.

It does look pretty Carmel at night. Can see it turn orange with the flash of the camera. Can't wait to see it in the sunlight today!

No paint on the house yet lol. Do feel better with a roof over it though. Didn't seem to get "too" humid last night/this morning. Hopefully it cured pretty nice!
I think the moisture in the mornings hurt the paint on the rear of the cab, and front of the bed when we sprayed it last time. Still looked good, but lost quite a bit of its luster.
With luck, buffing after she fully cures will bring that back... I'm not expert enough to even guess... nice job again.

It'll deff need a buff. Lost some of its glossiness drying. I kinda like it though. Looks "period correct" to me. Idk..
My buddy really wants to clear coat it. I'm kinda on the fence about it. This was a quick job, and can still kinda see some bruises here, and there. The clear coat would bring them out even more. Also like I said I kinda like it. Can't quite call it satin, but it's not full glossy either.
Think for a 40 yr old work truck, she cleaned up pretty decent though! The new bumper looks great mounted! Had to add a little bling lol
Having a little trouble with the aftermarket stuff though. Need to cut, and lengthen the door handle rod to the new door handles. They don't seem to move it quite enough. Also the original screws for the marker lights are too small for the new fenders.. little BS stuff like that to take care of..

I hear ya! Yea, trim would have went well with it. But no going back now... lol maybe some pin stripes or something to break it up a little?.. I think once everything is back on it'll look better, and help break it up. We'll see.

She has a hellacious exhaust leak at the passenger side manifold/block. I'm pretty nervous about taking the manifold off, and slipping a gasket in. Afraid of breaking the studs.
You guys have any tips/tricks?? I've done the pb blast before with no luck...

Yes.
Use every trick in the book and still expect the worst...
I truly understand your hesitancy.
Hit it liberally with PB Blaster for a few days, and then heat it up with a torch. Repeat as necessary until the nuts / bolts give it up.
