Factory 440. Vin matches, and fender tag posted earlier. Good title. Needs lower front and rear quarter work, trunk work on sides, floor patch drivers rear. Doors open and close as new with good gaps on all panels. Rockers and frame good. Car is complete minus factory radiator. I have replacement. Trim good, needs top, all parts there.

See how much you've learned to be honest in the last 24 hours...

...

1. Is this a rare car and can that be independently documented/provided here?
2. Can we confirm its condition with additional definitive photos and/or "eyewitness" testimony from a serious buyer?
3. Anybody here own(ed) one, or know where another one is? Photos of that/those others?

Thanks :)

I'm surprised that @Fury440 hasn't weighed in on this.

thanks for that reply.

are you able to add even more photographs of the good and the challenging areas to help interested parties make their assessments? and it gives others facing similar conditions get views on how to fix/configure things on their cars.

I like the car and wanna know more about it .. not as a buyer, or because I don't believe you (I do), but because I wanna see it live on another 47 years in the hands of appreciative new owners .. one or more of whom I believe are still out there. :)

They should, they're teaching you how to be honest
Lol. I sleep well at night. If you think I need to be dishonest for any reason you are a sad, sad man. Come to think of it, it doesn't matter what you think, you are a sad individual. You may feel important beating up on a new member behind your keyboard but my ad wasn't posted by me and I didn't solicit this page. I came here to correct misinformation. Luckily I am entertained by you in the process. I'm not going to sell my car to you. I doubt you have the budget. I'm pretty close to asking my ad be taken down entirely. Then you can brag to everyone how you "schooled me" on how things work around here. If your posts are any indication of how things work here, I'm not interested in it.

Why do you feel it necessary to keep bashing me as you keep diverting the subject in another direction? The only thing that I have been pounding on you have yet to address ...

"Lol. Like I said you aren't going to believe anything I post so look it up. I can't misrepresent what you find. If you don't want to that's fine but don't make assumptions and state them as facts. I get it, you don't like me and you aren't interested in the car, that's fine. What I don't get is that you don't have anything better to do than post negative comments on a stranger and his car. Lol.

You can do what you want. The ad accurately describes what it is and is not. Anyone that was interested got about 30 pics sent to them, including the fender tag. Yes it is a factory 440 car. I believe it was originally red. It is complete. As the ad says it's a project and the price reflects that. I wouldn't consider it a huge project but I can see where some might. It's a 1 of 8 car and priced fairly. If I don't move it soon, the driveline will be rebuilt for a b body and the car will be crushed. Lastly. The car is 47 years old and a convertible , with a big block for under 2500. Of course it needs restoration. However the level of work it may require depends on who buys it "

You even asked me to prove my numbers to which i've done by quoting the man that has been keeping track of the numbers for one hell of a long time....

"As for rarity, any 70 Fury convertible is one of 1952 built and one with a 440 engine is one of an estimated 20 built. Surviving 440 convertibles like mine are one of only seven known to exist."

You are accusing me of something you have done :realcrazy: since I entered the conversation, which was only to clarify the 1 of 8 claim .

Isn't this about the time we divert the thread onto something else. How about the NFL draft or free speech...:mob::soapbox::BangHead::drama:

For the non-enlightened...

Psycho: The name's Francis Sawyer, but everybody calls me Psycho. Any of you guys call me Francis, and I'll kill you.

Leon: Ooooooh.

Psycho: You just made the list, buddy. And I don't like nobody touching my stuff. So just keep your meat-hooks off. If I catch any of you guys in my stuff, I'll kill you. Also, I don't like nobody touching me. Now, any of you homos touch me, and I'll kill you.

Sergeant Hulka: Lighten up, Francis.

From my perspective, I would think a potential buyer would want mostly to know whether the engine spins or not, and whether there was bondo work done when it was painted black that you can detect largestar (maybe you have a coating thickness meter - something I would not be without BTW). It seems if the underbody is pretty nice overall with rust repair work only required in the areas you mention, then this convertible Fury is a bargain it seems to me if the engine is also free. It would also help the purists to know whether the engine/trans is numbers matching. I believe if we just stick to the facts of this individual car, maybe much of the animosity will fade out and the goal will be met with a satified buyer and another rare car saved. Given the similarities of interests among all of us, we should be able to get along just fine and move forward.

thanks for the references to stripes, I really needed the laugh guys............

I, for one, am glad this car was posted here, and I have no problem with the ad. Seems straight up to me. A rare and complete project with less then typical rust issues, offered at a fair price. I'm trying to thin the herd and complete existing projects or I'd be REALLY interested.

TX9 paint code ....... tan bench seat. Looks to me.

Just to help clear up some confusion, according to the Hamtramck Registry, the vinyl bench seat with fold down center arm rest coded M4XA is black and charcoal:

The body color is ER6 which is Scorch Red:

TX9 is the interior color given its location on the body code plate, in this case black:
