Some new information has surfaced and we're trying to rectify some factory shipment numbers. The info doesn't balance.

Was there a 70 Dodge spring special, or a special release some other time of the year, that may have been VINned differently on the window sticker or dealer invoice? For example, and example only......was there a Polara 318 Special with a low trim option package that carried a PE VIN on the window sticker or invoice? Was there a higher trim or Special Monaco with a Deluxe package released some time? The info we're seeking could have even been related to a station wagon package/special release. It's possible it was a special option package on a specific model.

We don't know what it was that could account for the discrepancy. We just know the numbers don't balance indicating shipments of cars not accounted for by the expected VINs. There was something else shipped.

Part two: has anyone ever seen credible numbers for Canada sold Monaco 500 cars?

Thanks.

I'll ask a gent. or two that I know, but from what I have heard to date, I suspect that you are already working with them.

Sounds complicated, go get 'em Doug! Shall I send some Baileys and pipe tobacco?

It's simple math....we just need to find out what's missing to make the numbers work.

Baileys?....always.

There was Polara AAR....

Fleet - VN export?

Are you asking me or replying to Stan?

We know the cars we are looking for were US shipped. We think they were 2 and four doors. They probably (Possibly?) had some sort of special or option package, like a spring special, that could have altered the VIN on the invoice and window sticker.

You're saying that the accounting discrepancy may be explained by an additional unknown VIN.
Whew. Looooong shot.

Yes, and, no. The concept is known to happen.

If we can figure it out, The end result will shed new light on C body production.

1) this is WHY it's important to save fender tags, documents from parted cars and records from dealerships. Every car is a piece of one big puzzle. When you put the pieces together, the picture becomes clear.
2) when done, the project will be of interest to C body owners and the whole hobby.

69CoronetRT, are you maybe referring to the 1970 Dodge Polara Special? It was introduced as the lowest-priced Polara on April 7, 1970 (or around that date). It was available as a sedan and as a station wagon. Its VIN should start with "DE".

Yes, something exactly like that! Do you have any other documentation like an invoice, window sticker or fender tag?

The convertibles were all built at Belvedere. Windsor production I believe ceased before the 70 calendar year.
They were also built at the Newark plant

I've seen very few specials. I've only ever seen one 71 special.

I've never seen a 1970 360 test polara. Fratzog and I have been looking.
