My wife's 96 year old Grandpa decided that he didn't need 2 cars anymore as his "New wife" doesn't drive anymore at 92. He asked me to take his 1999 Buick Century Limited and see if my youngest daughter would like it. Her 2005 Dodge SX 2.0 is on its last legs at 290000 kms. Mechanically it is ok but there is a lot of rust in key structural areas I'm not comfortable with her driving it much longer. So what do you all think...42000 miles and I don't think anyone has ever sat in the back seat...a few park by feel bruises but what the hell it was free...:)

Duhhhh, guess what we think, give ya 3 tries and the first two are gone..........

Always nice at twice the price! That will be a great car for your daughter.

That will be a great car for her, which V6 is in it?

Has the 3.2V6. I drove her back from the interior of BC through the Rockies and she performed beautifully. Did manage to pin the speedometer at 170kph downhill on a passing lane. I can gaurantee Grandpa never did that!

That should be a great car for her.

One of our employees had one just like it... Same deal... His grandmothers.

Sorry keystroke error...yes it is a 3.1litre

oh... Wait, I get it... It's the Neon that has the rust.

Proceed.

Its in the usual places behind the wheels and along the pinch weld but when we changing the winter tires over to all seasons last month the tech was worried the hoist arm was going to push right through the "frame" as he called it.

For the daughter having the shower this weekend? If so, it will make a great gift.

Ha nope that one has a 2015 Dart GT that her future husband bought her. He is a Chrysler tech and he is very tired of fixing the Dart lately. Once the warranty is off they plan to sell it. Her neon was a 2003 Yellow sport that had 330000kms on it when we sold it.

I'll bet he didn't LOL.

Great car for your daughter, hell, wouldn't really matter what it was as it's lightly used and best of all "free."

You must have bumped up against the speed limiter if all it will do is 170. :steering:

I've been told that you can go into the ECM and make that go away if it has an option for speed rated tires. Not that it applies here tho...

I think those are pretty good cars even if they were built by the dark side.

If it were mine I'd be headed to the nearest Rustchek or Krown store to get rustproofed before an Alberta winter has a chance to get at it. Switch to synthetic oil and your grandkids might learn to drive in it.

I've seen many folks grab those cars as they age and lost all their value... that one looks to be in VG condition... I know several former tech's who would love to buy her for a song and run her for pennies for the next decade... The kid should be pleased and with maintenance, her biggest issue will probably be the day it won't start due to GM's dumbass double stacked battery cable...

I own my parents last car, '94 Le Sabre with the series I 3800 motor which is better with the alunimum intake but still watch every fill up for excessive coolant usage. These cars can still need the intake gaskets replaced. Around here we call the Buick Century/Le Sabre, "Cemetary Cruisers"
