I brought home Dad's '68 and gave it a bath tonight.
License plate says '92 so that was the last time it was on the road.

So far it looks like it is all here. No rust at all, at least none that I have found.
He drove in the shed, parked it and pulled the battery. It's amazing to me how good of
shape this beast is in. Should be a fun project to get her on the road again.

Looks great. Hope to keep up with your progress?

Now that is clean what’s the first thing on your list toward making it road worthy.

Thanks!! More cleaning under the hood and then I plan to flush the cooling, rebuild the carb, replace all fluids, add new filters, new plugs and wires, new battery, belts and hoses and see if it will run. If it does then I will start on the brakes and replace the tires.

Be sure to check the fuel tank before you try to start it, you do not want to suck up a bunch of degraded fuel rust etc. Brake system should have new components such as wheel cylinders, hoses and master cylinder before you try to drive it as they are likely in bad shape from sitting that long. Very nice looking car.

HOSE!

My favorite SLAB year AND color too.The butt end iz remonicent of the Turbine Car, just love it. I'd drop the tank and head to the radiator shop and have it flushed and presure tested and blow out, flush out the fuel line from the pump back with BRAKE CLEAN before you even try cranking it over with fresh gas in it. Ia that ah '68 Calli Black PlateI'm lookin' at on the front of that beauty? Jer

That is a truly gorgeous car. You are lucky to have such a treasure and I hope you are able to get it back on the road without too much trouble. Good luck!
:welcome:

Man, the VERY first 68 300 I ever saw was red mono tone with a white interior... everything got fuzzy for me after that. My first love was the 67 Monaco which I have one of but one day ...

Gorgeous car and best of luck to you getting her rolling again!

A little car **** for everyone. That shine on the big red beast is real! I hit the hood with some compound and a buffing wheel to see what it would look like. That red paint is coming back nicely. I plan to do the rest of the car tomorrow.

I got most of the car buffed before it got too hot this morning. Note to mods, you might want to move this thread to projects?

I am finding some cool options like a remote trunk release and side markers.

EDIT: Where is the best parts source for this year?

Gorgeous car! Side markers were standard on ‘68s.
Post up a pic of the interior and the fender tag.
