61 Fury Restoration

I can tell your dad is old school, I see the newspapers for the masking paper. My dad showed me the same thing. They say not to use newspaper though and use masking paper, I don't remember if it's because of the ink on the newspaper? Progress though, keep plugging away at it.

I think its because the subscription to get you enough newspaper will cost you as much a the masking paper...

Its the Athens , AL News Courier my parents ask me to bring it home to read in the morning when they get up. Now all the windows have news paper on it . I am not driving this car until I have new tires and front disc brakes on the car.

It's because paint can bleed through the newspaper and stick to the surface it's protecting. AMHIK.....

Maybe I`ve missed it, but what will be the body paint?
No the car is going to be repainted black like my previous '61 fury. I had to by 2 more bags of sand for sand blasting and those bags are heavy but I got them in the trunk of my 2016 challenger. My dad also found out my drivers door has been replaced. I also know of some one who wants to drive theirs every day I advised him to have the car appraised before he insured the car that way if he gets hit and the other party's insurance company wants to give him a small amount like $100 and if the car was appraised at $35,000 then that insurance company has to pay that amount to the owner of the car . If that was me I would give them these 2 choices repair the car or find me a replacement or I will have my attorney handle this for me insurance companies do not like to hear that word.

no my dad and I had a talk and he told me "Its your car you can paint it any color you want." I chose black

Gotcha. I personally would not own a back car. True, there's nothing prettier that a black car when it is clean and shiny, but that only lasts a few minutes as black shows dust and dirt more so than other colors and will highlight faint scratches and swirl marks too. I'm especially not a fan of it on classics due to the wide range of colors available on '60's cars which separates them from modern cars. Just my personal opinion, of course. As your dad said, "It's your car, you can paint it any color you want."

Some sort of a pastel color would look good because 61 Plymouths have a strong resemblance to the wildness of the late 50s. Just my 2C.

I love black and on some of my cars its the colour of choice but I think your car would really look awesome in red. that year and body style does not lend itself to being black . please reconsider. jmho.

I am doing this to give my self closure on this 1 . I lost it in a garage fire it will be 5 years this coming January 25th. It made me sick to watch it burn . I even had the window tint put on the car . I plan to put window tint on this 1 also and might have a AM/FM/CD player installed in this 1 with surface mount speakers .
