Not much point fine tuning until after the exhaust is completed. No back pressure can do funny things.

That is one of the reasons I am not too concerned right now. The back pressure will change some things. I wanted it close, so I could at least drive it into the exhaust shop. I will probably trailer it there, about 8 miles, most of it on the interstate. I don't really like driving it with no exhaust. Now once I have the exhaust on? I may want to drive it home. Reminder, put another 5 gallons of gas in it. I also need to check my fuel gauge it was working on the bench and I have a new sender. I just need to make sure my wire is tight on the sender, and my ground strap has a good ground.

After I got my exhaust put on. I went to fill it up with gas. Got up to about 15 gallons and started pouring from the seams. So much for wasting my time to clean it out and seal it.
Siphoned about 10 gallons out until it stopped dripping. Should have my new tank on Friday.
Any way did a tune. I think I am as close as I can get. Starts right up, sits and idles. Acceleration good. Can’t quite get the vacuum gauge in the green. It does get up there with a little rpm. Fine line on the carb between 550 and 700 rpm. Anyway clocked 30 miles today with no issues.

It sounded about right when idling in your video, any lower and it would be too low. Your TC might be dragging... :(

Now that I have played with the idle and timing a little more the torque converter doesn’t drag. Sits and idles nice at a stop sign.

Great posts! And beautiful car. Aw man burgundy just looks so good on a C Body. What are you having done for exhaust? Ordering a kit or having the shop bend one for you?

For the exhaust I decided to go stock. So single exhaust. I found a NOS resonator and muffler. I couldn’t find a y pipe or intermediate pipe so I took it to a local 2nd generation exhaust and radiator shop. He had the bend cards to help him out and I had pieces of the original Y pipe as an example for the cross over. He did a great job. About 3 hours of labor and materials. It is very quiet.
2” out of the manifolds into a 2-1/2” pipe. Goes down to a 2-1/4” on the intermediate to the muffler. Resonator is the tail pipe and hooks directly to the muffler outlet.
I have a thread somewhere on the resonator and muffler. Also info on my restoration thread.

Gotta love those bend cards. Getting harder to find up here.

Do you mind asking him if he'd make copies of the bend cards for 1966 Dodge Monaco 2 door hard top with 440 dual exhaust, and a 1966 Chrysler Town and Country wagon with 440 dual exhaust?

I'd give him some coffee money...

Let me know via PM.

Thanks!

New fuel tank in. Freshly aligned. Front Grill in. Taking it to work today. Runs beautifully. Only issue so far is my choke over centers and won’t return on its own. Original carburetor, shafts are a little loose in the bores. I just need to remember to re-set it.
Smooth ride to work.
Now I need to finish the trim bits.

I agree with the above post - but then sometimes the best feature of a car is the *** end - I love the tail lights on the 65-68 Polara/Monaco vehicles, as well as the rear quarter lines.

That being said - I almost always back into parking spaces now for safety's sake (much easier and safer driving out) - as well as always trying to find a corner or end of row space where I can be as far away from the next person to minimize the chance of door dings.

I had a set back with my tail light bezels. I had to send them back to the re- chromers. it seems that when the wrapped them nice and tight for shipping I think they got a little strong on the plastic banding machine as the opening that goes over the center tail filler was squished in by about 3/4 of an inch. Had to use gorilla tape to put the lens on to make it legal for now.
Backing in is difficult in our parking garage at work. This is a drive straight in back straight out spot.

I hope they're able to fix the bezels - what a drag!!

I run into those situations sometimes with regards to parking... one has to do what one has to do!

Enjoy your car - looking forward to seeing all the final trim assembly!

Should be an easy fix with a little heat, but I want them to do it as they can re- plate it when they are done if needed.

Is your choke thermostat working? It should pull off after being warmed up.
2bbl 383?? I may have NOS one if needed.
