New to me 78 NYB on its way but please Don't tell my wife

See that, Jav. They are coming out of the woodwork now.
2 more doesn’t make for a lot out of the woodwork. Let me get the first run out of the way and we can talk. Also spoke to DMT. He may have some new clips for us. Will keep you posted.

Right now I’m in Boston where it’s 9 degrees. ‘Wicked cold!´ As the locals say.

I took my parts manual and put each Section in their own binder.
Gawd, does that make things easier...

A little light reading arrived today for my ‘78 library.

View attachment 262417

I love the books. CD ROMs are nice but just not the same to me.

Best investment I made too. EBay for $50. Nothing like having an original parts book.

I also have the CD's for the parts book and FSM from....
www.autobooksbishko.com

There are always pages missing or unreadable in the parts book.

I have about 50 subgroups tabbed with sticky notes in the paper parts book.

I love how many of the Formal owners here have the books for their year car. If I have a 76, and I need to know something out of the book on a 78, there's always someone here to help you.

As a beneficiary of you having a 76 FSM I agree wholeheartedly...
:thankyou:

Little project for today:

Taking a clue from my ‘73 T&C (and not exactly correct for a ‘78 NYB), I added a reflective thermal barrier with fireproof insulating backing (asbestos I think) to the splash shields to protect the upper suspension from the radiant heat off the manifolds. Looks “correct” to me.... and hopefully will help protect the upper a arm bushings.

I am constantly amazed at how the 440s in particular are blast furnaces. I don't know if it's my imagination but, damn, they seem to crank out some vicious BTUs.

And...... I’m back!

Been very busy the last few months and I’m sure I’ve missed at least the latest two imperial purchases from the Doc.

Seriously, family priorities ( all good) and other projects needed attention and took me away from the NYB.

I ordered the top material to install the formal plug I bought to make my car more “Imperial” and it’s finally arrived. I’ve been searching for a weather strip for the sunroof to no avail. And since I need a new one for the Road Runner, figures I’d make two.

I’ll open a separate thread to record my efforts.

Hope everyone is well!

The process continues.

As I said in my PM Javier I sourced a seal from Kelley Sunroofs down in Florida. Jack Kelley has a good supply of seal material it seems. If you need his number send me a PM.

Welcome back ol friend.. gals all
Is well. Looking forward to your new posts.
Everyone is OK. Girls are doing well with college....and both have good merit scholarships that make them both almost cash flow positive. Very proud of them. (The beatings seem to have worked -lol)

Wife is also fine though she refuses to ride on the NYB for some reason. Says I have too many cars. Getting rid of te Jaguar now should help.
