Hi All,

I am currently restoring a 1961 Belvedere with a 225 Slant and an early A904 pushbutton trans. Unfortunately the A904 gave up the ghost and is non-repairable. Does anyone know where I could get a new OR used transmission for this thing? As some of you may know , there are some key differences that seperate a early pushbutton 904 from later 904s. Id like to keep the pushbutton. I have had no luck finding anything online as of yet. Thanks for your time,

Anton

Not to send you away, but I do see a lot more pushbutton A904's go up for sale at the For A Bodies Site. Good Luck, Lefty71

This is from a friend that has worked on Chrysler transmissions since the 50’s.
“I don't believe that it’s not repairable unless the case is cracked or badly damaged.

Over the years I have reconditioned dozens and dozens of these 904’s and have never seen one that could not be repaired. I readily agree that there are differences between early and later 904’s and that he should strive to keep it original.

To the best of my knowledge all internal parts are still available for this popular transmission.

I think there is more to this story.”
Hope this helps somewhat.

Maybe cause these new shops don't know how to fix 'em?

If thats the case I'd try A&A or Copes. They can build the ones that handle rockets, and they can build the bone stock ones too, cable shifted as well.

The case is badly damaged on mine.

I have a 61 318 and 904 combo if you might think of going to a V8. It's complete, engine turns. It's from my donor cat so everything you might need is there.
Very cheap.
