This mountain of carbs behind me and only 24 hrs. In a day! Plus they opened the local 1/4 mile yesterday, that always brings in a rush of “hey man you got a couple accelerator pumps” and “ hey man I stripped out my squirted screws” . Not complaining at all, I love it. But the days do cruise right on by.

The entry of air into the carb is the same principle as cylinder head ports. The smoother the air flows, the more you can cram into the air pump.
 
I will not make a prediction. It will go to the flow bench, and I will also flow a bone stock 4966 the same day. That always puts an end to the bs.
 
Yes, guys are always adding spacers , high rise intakes, tunnel rams, yet we are milling this one.
I need answers for the dumb when common sense doesn't apply.
Think race carb. I add spacers for clearance mainly, and to cool the charge going in. I don't make enough power to smooth things out.
 
milling the choke horn seems to be much less common with a carter, it was brought up in a post on moparts. Some cautioned it can make a carter worse, presuming some special sauce to do it right. @Dana - not looking for you to give up your trade secrets but am interested in your take on how sensitive carters are to the mod?
 
Ok, back to Wyatt’s project. Milled off half of the throttle shafts, removed casting flash from the Venturis, and massaged them, molded some epoxy in the main body to kill a dead spot between the rear throttle bores, and we will do a little epoxy and blending on the air horn in the rear. Next I’ll thin the primary boosters and polish.
