I videoed this super rare Renault Dauphine rotting away in the woods. Been the 70’s since I’ve seen one & only seen two or three in my lifetime. Subscribe to my channel as I bring all kinds of cool & interesting cars to you. I’ve been busy building content & learning. Over 80 vids so far & I have at least 40 already made waiting to be posted. Some super cool stuff coming up. I’ve meet a lot of interesting people doing this & have some good leads. I’ve found several that the owners won’t let me video or take pics. I plan to go back & buy some parts & hopefully that will break some ice & who knows I might do some vids of me pulling parts in junk yards as soon as I get better with editing. Have a look at the Renault & let me know what you think

Always loved those things...
They can't get out of their own way but cool to look at..
Always thought would be a kickass car to have suicide rear doors ...

There’s a neat show in Van Nuys where they do the Spring & Fall Flings called the Best of France & Italy. Pretty laid back, an actually pretty good autojumble and a pretty spectacular group of cars show up. If you’ve never seen it or heard of it it’ll be there.

A buddy in high school had one. It was a project that never got out of the driveway.

Lots of folks have those except they’re not Renault’s LOL
Some years after high school, I was working with him. He had a ~69/70 ish Porsche 914, one of those half Porsche, half VW cars that sold pretty cheap new. It was trashed when he got it. To his credit, this one left the driveway, but it had one of the worst bondo jobs I'd seen. It looked like he troweled it on from the bottom of the rocker to the top of the fenders, covering the body damage and rust. Then I think he "smoothed" it out with a chain saw and a snow blower. The car was painted metallic blue and where he didn't do any body work, the paint actually looked good. The rest was just sad... Great guy though... Very smart with electronics. He bought a new '78 Dodge Magnum when they first hit the showroom after he just couldn't put up with the Porsche.

It reminds me of a Fiat 124 belonging to the maintenance supervisor that had similar body work that parked near the Porsche. The Fiat met its end at a Christmas party. I never went to the parties because it usually turned into drunken ordeals where people ended up hating each other, but that's a different story... Anyway, the big Carrier Christmas party was in the same place that year and that turned into a drunken brawl where they threw some furniture through an upstairs window. It landed on the Fiat. Now, I thought it probably improved the body work, but they totaled the car and paid him much more than the car was worth.

Damn, back when I was working at car dealerships the Christmas parties were quite boring. Everyone huddle with their group of friends & we all checked out everybody’s wife’s LOL. I would find the exit door as soon as I could.

I worked at this place for 20 years and the parties were quite legendary.

A couple stories... My manager got drunk and told a few people what he thought. He was a very smart man until that night. His career was going straight up... and then it went straight down. Another time, one guys wife was just sitting there and the story is that without warning, she just started taking her clothes off. One guy got "sucker punched" by another guy... Seems he was dating an old girlfriend and didn't know it.

The picnics, which I used to go to weren't quite as bad, but after two car wrecks one year, they stopped suppling the beer. Then they moved the picnics to the grounds at the plant, which were really nice, but then a couple years later, decided to do them during work hours and make attendance mandatory. They stopped being fun then....

I put 20 years in that place and learned to not make friends at work. We had one guy that worked there and his brother, sister in law, ex wife, new wife, and new wife's mother and brother worked there. At 200 employees, it was hard to hide from each other. Way too many romances, mostly bad and involving cheating, occurred there. A couple of them got caught "in the act" by people walking into empty offices. I had to be interviewed once about a sexual harassment charge where the accuser was just mad that the accused wasn't responding to her advances. I sat next to him the whole time that this was going on and was thinking "WTF?".

I did break my "no friends" rule and met my first wife there. Didn't get serious though until she went to work for GE and I didn't see her every day.

The stripper wife sounds like my kinda girl

I have to pickup one these renaualts at a local ranch. It's cut in half along with a Morris minor.
I was going to load them up for scrap. Are these worth anything to save for parts?
Awhile back I had picked up a 70 Citroen there that I sold for parts.
Those citroens are oddball cars for sure.

Not normally much demand but there’s probably that one guy out there that collects them & will buy parts if the price is right. When I find a guy like that on a undesirable car I just let him price the stuff & if it seems reasonable I sell it to him.

Steering wheels make cool wall hangers.

Back about 1960 we lived at a stable. A gal who worked there had a Renault Dauphine. One day she went outside and her car was gone. Seems four of the stable hands picked up her car and carried it into a horse stall.

VW's were a target for that kind of fun. Pranksters would put them up on the porch.
