Last week I stopped by my friends house, I was saying what a great day it was to go for a ride but my car is in pieces. He opened his garage door and said take mine. Dart road trip 007.jpgDart road trip 011.jpgDart road trip 015.jpg440 DART seat rails 005.jpg440 DART seat rails 009.jpg

Very nice, that had to be some fun!

It's not the first time I've borrowed it and it a BLAST to drive. Numbers matching 440 auto, 3:55, manual steering and brakes it can be a handful.Dart road trip 009.jpgThis is the best type of road for a big block A body.

That GTS looks very familiar! Very nice car! I owned a 440 GTS in 1988-89, and had to sell it before getting stationed in Germany. Couldn't find secure storage. Mine was a restored Burnt Orange Metallic car with black interior and vinyl top. It had a white stripe on it, originally, but I put the black stripe on it. Plus, it is the ONLY known factory disc brake car built, of the 635 '69 440 GTS cars. I sold it to a guy in Massachusetts in '89, and its whereabouts today is unknown. I started the 1969 Dart Swinger/GTS Registry in 1988 (back in the pre-Interwebz days), and accumulated nearly 100 numbers of 340, 383, and 440 '69 Darts; including the oldest '69 340 Swinger known (VIN 100040). This is all now a part of the GTS Registry website that is ran by Frank Remlinger.

Burnt Orange with Black top and interior, great color combo. Disk brakes should have been mandatory! Any photo's? This car was always in MA., it's in the GTS Registry. I'm not the biggest fan of all Green but it works on this car.

My brother had 2 1969 Darts. First one was Swinger with a 340. Green with a white stripe. Second one was GTS, started out as a 383 4 speed and had a 440 when he bought it. Black with a white stripe. He put a Dana 60 in it. Hit and run destroyed the car parked on a city street in Milwaukee.

I'll have to scan some film pics of my old car and post them here and on the "A"-body forum. You guys will dig it!

And yes, the big block cars flat-out suck in any cornering situation! Straight-line acceleration is this car's forte'. Nothing like a light car with 3.91 gears to suck the eyeballs out of the sockets at full-throttle! Damn, that car was fun!
