Nobody has disputed the top-notch condition of the car, only the price.

If he's spent sufficient time here, he should know the price is not realistic.
If he's not spent sufficient time here to learn that, it's not our fault that the asking price got bashed.

It's somewhat akin to friends saying 'hey, don't go out in public dressed like that'.
