1968 383 4 Bbl super commando, stuck lifter

Yeah I do
That's good because you will probably need it. Bottom line is, it's your money your time, and your choice. Take what you will from this thread. At the very least I would add up the total of all the repairs you say it will need according to your description, using the worst case scenario for the engine rebuild, a/c repairs and front end repairs. Add this to the $7500 and then decide if your still in. Either way good luck.

Really dude? I've been pretty nice and thankful but you don't need to be the harsh cold hand of reality. I understand the risks and probably won't get the car but you have just gone way too far brother. You have made the point clear, please move on. I mean my original question was about his use of Lucas oil stabilizer!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I wish I had the harsh cold hand of reality when I was younger. I may not have made the mistakes I have. Either way, hope it works out for you.

OK, I'll go up to give it a thorough look after his repairs are complete before buying, the price is 7,500 btw. I know any classic is going to have issues, I want a driver, I don't have a garage and am not looking for or holding out for a valuable classic. My interpretation of the sound may very well not be something terrible, but with no doubt the oil light came on, and stayed on until we headed back to his shop, for some reason the light went off after that. I am going to call him today to see if he has made any progress. Thanks again everyone

What! Besides the 7500 I just noticed the Pinole CA. I wasn't able to tell if this was a Fast Top or a 2dr hardtop from your first description. Nonetheless, I would say 7500 is too high out here in the Bay Area. Sounds like a #3 car and they tend to sit forever at that price only to pop up off and on like a groundhog. I seriously doubt he had buyers falling all over him for that car here which is 18 miles from me. There are several on Craigslist that just popped up these past two days but I had seen many months ago. Same price, seller doesn't learn, car goes unsold till next time and we do it again. Not necessarily the B-J thing as much as the Bay Area tech economy which makes people over price everything.

The point was there's plenty of nice cars out there u see 7500. Given some time even a nice very can be found for under 7500.

Just be sure I understand. This is a 1968 Fury III convertible? If convertible, $7,500 doesn't seem like such a bad deal.

On a lighter side, if it doesn't work out, I really do have a four wheel drive 1967 Chrysler New Yorker with no oil pressure I would sell for $7,499. Save ya a buck!

You are right. The top goes down and the price goes up. It sounds like a good price with a good engine. Consider that the bondo'd up black Fury with the glow in the dark red interior went for $6100 on the west coast, so $7500 is not out of line if the engine is OK. For Sale - '70 Fury convertible on Ebay (is that a '71 grille?) several more photos

IMHO, a pristine vert with a bad engine would still be in the ballpark. Let's say you figured an additional $6k in repairs for a $7.5k car. $13.5k is still pretty good for a real nice vert. In this case, I don't think this car fits the "really nice" part of that description, but it doesn't sound like it's a pile of junk either.

The question presented here is if the car has a good engine or not. The OP has to decide if he is comfortable enough with the price of the car to make the gamble.

I was wondering why you were referring to it as yours when you explained he had returned your money. Any way good luck, and I'm sure you will get it sorted out. You are, after all showing persistence and this is key to keeping these old classics up and running. How about some more pictures as I remember It did look nice.

Yeah good luck, whutever the circiumstance turns out to be. You've way more guts than I do.
