I find a few threads on this topic (like below) but didn't find any confirmation that the headrest tubes/framework were in all the Fury seat frames in the 69 model year.

My car did not originally have headrests. It is an Oct 68 (Halloween! (A31)) production date - before headrests were made mandatory. My long time understanding is that headrests were mandatory for cars produced March 1969 onward.

Anyone stripped a frame down and find everything you need? Just poke a couple holes, add the bezels (escutcheons?), and slam 'em home?

Headrest Question

That's a good question. My 69 is a very late build (June) so I have head restraints. MANY years ago, the secretary's husband (at the dealer I worked at) had a 69 Fury convertible. In conversation he mentioned he found one abandoned with head restraints. He said he took them for his car because he did not have them. I don't know if they went right in. He passed MANY years ago so I can't ask.

A31 is likely the scheduled date and not the actual build date but it is helpful to let us know it was before the headrests became mandatory on January 1, 1969.

Headrests were optional for the Fury line in the fall of 68 so, based on my experience with 69 Coronets, you will likely find some provisions for headrests as the core frames would have to have things like holes in the frame. You may not find all of the headrest specific hardware on your car but you can certainly scrounge the right parts out of another car.
