I was looking to purchase a radiator online but it only shows fitment for a 1966 polara not 1965...Only if it's the same size radiator. Why would they change it??????
here is the link Tri-Core/Row Aluminum Engine Cooling For 1966-1970 Chrysler Imperial 300/300C | eBayIs the radiator you're looking at a 26" rad for the HD cooling option? Did they offer that option in 1965, or just the standard 22" rad? Can you post a link to the rad you're looking to purchase?
im also not clear how the original shroud will fit this???
do you have any pics of the rad with shroud?I have a 22" radiator out of a '65, I can measure that and see if it's the same as my '66 22" radiator.
measurements would be great...do you have any pics of the rad with shroud?
That's a 26" radiator, I don't have a shroud on either of my 26" radiators, but I might have a broken one I can use to take a picture.do you have any pics of the rad with shroud?
The differences between a 22" and a 26" rad are easily seen. The 22" has a rounded top tank, and a 26" rad has a squared off top tank.
There was NO 26" rad option in 1965. The two radiators in 66 each have their own dedicated rad yoke.
Each radiator had an available shroud - typically the 22" rad's shroud is rarer and was only found on 1965 cars with AC, or 1965 AND 1966 trailer tow or heavy duty/high altitude cooling systems. 1966 C body cars equipped with a 26" rad typically had AC and therefore the 26" rad had a shroud as a mandatory inclusion.
Here is a picture of my 66 Monaco with a 22" rad and shroud. It should be the same from 65, because that's where the shroud came from.

Which rad do you have?
i believe you are right it came with a 22'rad my Monaco name with the original shroud (i believe for a 22 rad) separate from the car, it has an aftermarket alum ran that is all nasty/ rusty inside. in the process of replacing the engine and radThe differences between a 22" and a 26" rad are easily seen. Which rad do you have?
good to know. the one i have is a 2 piece so it must be a 22'Had 3 - the middle car in the picture has been sold.
Sorry, forgot to mention:
The shroud for a 22" rad is a two piece metal shroud.
The shroud for a 26" rad is a one piece plastic.
AC will be another challenge... contemplating removing.. any ideas?22" shroud (B body shown, but C body is very similar - you can see how the two pieces bolt to a bracket in the middle):
