Your wipers sit a little high. When running the left wiper may go past the glass. They should be parked resting on the cowl trim. Gotta love how and when to shut off the wipers in a certain spot to keep the wipers from doung an extra sweep. Lol
So I may be one click off ? They don’t hit the edge of the glass, but I didn’t think they should go past the rubber seal when parked. I guess I can see now in the pictures the tails are sitting a little lower than the leading edge. I thought they were horizontal. Thanks
I am getting closer. Just a few little items left ( for this season anyway) Maybe I need to start a new thread call restoration complete, maintenance and tweaking continues. I am hoping to get my tail filler panel and tail light bezels before Friday. Otherwise Gorilla tape will be holding my lenses on for Mopars in the Park. If I can pick them up on the way then I will have to set up a detailing booth at the show site to finish. My trunk covered in plastic is probably a large enough to make a spray booth.
I was getting concerned that I didn’t have a cup holder for my drive to Stillwater. But I happened to find one at Autozone for $4.99. A little Velcro and Aztec Maroon Suede dash paint and I was in business.
Yea, I love my console but it pretty much puts any idea like that in the trash and I really wish I had a cup holder. Good work, der!
I just got word today that my tail light bezels all fit together again. Hopefully have them later this week.
1,437 miles since I got it back on the road in mid May. To do: detail tail light bezels when they arrive. Find lower body sill molding $$$ Longer term: Find side glass that is not scratched. Detail hubcaps for original wheels just so I have them. Balance drive shaft to get rid of the vibration at 80 mph (nothing until 80. I use it as my speed limiter for now. ) Play with mechanical advance on distributor so it doesn’t start advancing at 600 rpm. (May just send to @halifaxhops for curve, but I have to play with it first) Send carburetor to @Dana for rebuild/ restore. ( butterflies have a little play and cold idle cam doesn’t always flip down. ). Find new projects so I don’t wear this one out trying to perfect it. Some pictures
On August 20, it will be 49 years since Dad brought my ‘68 Polara home. I would have been just over two years old. He paid $1400 plus an allowance of $2195 for the trade in of his ‘63 Chevy Impala 2dr. For a total of $3595. He finance the $1400 for 2 years at 12% interest. $65 per month. I really would like to find the sticker data to see what new price was. No mention of miles on either car.
Looking Good! Can't wait to see the tail panel installed. You're probably the only person that's ever had one of those rechromed.
Paint booth ready. Have tail panel red, Light silver argent and trim black satin. Tail panel should arrive tomorrow afternoon. I am going to try the spray and wipe method first, but there sure are a lot of ribs. I have the tape 3/8” and 1/2” ready to go in case I end up masking. Now I need to find my detail pictures.
Original pictures to remind me of the detailing. One of trying to match paint chips. Ended up just calling 877-paints. He had the correct color.
Tail panel arrived. No chance of compression. Used 2x4 chunks to hold them open. Time to detail Red, Black then Argent.
That's gotta feel good! Looks great, and finally tops off the wonderful job you've done with your car.
