71 Dodge Polara Brougham coupe

How about a DK41?

Chances are good that many will just be parts cars, but better saving the useful parts before the remains get recycled, compared to someone clearing their yard as "nobody wants these cars."

More power to you as a young fellow for doing this, you're going to keep these old boats going long after many of us older guys and girls have departed this life.

I've devoted my life fully to c bodies. I have had all Mopars besides an E body or F body. This Dodge Polara 2 door hunt is insane. I looked through a ton of cars today. Not one 2 door hardtop. But I found two Dodge squads...

Picked up my dash pad this afternoon. I am grinning ear to ear. It's not perfect but at half the price of perfect I'll take damn near perfect this dash is. I am going to break down a dash frame I got from Dave this week in my spare time and get it prepped for paint. The black AC dash frame I have is beat up and has a bunch of holes drilled in it. I do have a nice Black non AC frame for a floorshift car I've considered using but then I would have to utilize the Non AC heater box and firewall I have...I'll repaint the dash frame.

70 Sport Suburbans dad's FY1 Wagon is just plain cool! Where's the Dodge version hiding at????

The Brougham got some Sun today. I cleared out everything I had sitting in the car. Also got the crusty harness out. Heater box comes out next.
I was re evaluating the rust and I am really glad I waited to do any major cutting until I had the patch material. Now all I need is the supplies to attack/strip the rust. I am looking for recommendations for rust converters. I've heard mixed things about the Por 15. I have always kind of liked the look of rust bullet and it seems to do a good job any advice guys? I wish I could get it blasted and do a professional restoration, but for the time being I am focusing on stopping the spread of rot, fixing it's major issues and getting it on the road for the first time since 99.

Gonna work on getting the New Yorker moved over to the shop to finish parting out. Freeing the trunk floor from the 73 is going to be my most difficult task in the trunk repair I have a feeling.

That's a mean looking car, looking forward to getting some pictures of it in person soon.
Hey what year is that green Polara wagon? I need a left taillight for my 72 Monaco wagon

It's almost time. Got the New Yorker over to the shop. Gonna go shopping one day this week for the consumables. I'll get my Oxygen, Acetylene, and Argon tanks swapped out as well. This is going to be fun.

An update with REAL progress. I am close to wrapping up the Dashboard for the Brougham. I love it. It came out way better then expected. I started with a dash frame I got when I visited Dave in November. Stripped it down and scuffed it really good with red scotch brite. Then I shot it with Rust-Oleum flat black primer inside and out, front and back. Wet sanded with 1000 and recoated. From there I fogged it with 3 coats of Krylon Satin Black from about a foot away to give the paint a little texture. Finally. Two coats of Duplicolor matte clear. I think it looks great! The dim lighting in my basement makes it look funny but I just know it will look amazing in natural light. I set everything together on the dash to see how it all looks and I am very excited for the day I can install this into the car. The interior project just took a giant leap forward today...Very proud of my work. This is the first dash I've ever done a color change and resto on...

Thanks. Alot of my buddies don't understand why I'll dump so much into the interior but haven't bought a single performance part for my 440. I plan on spending alot of time in this Polara. I want it to be an enjoyable experience. On my last major project car (79 Cordoba) I went with performance first. While the car was very fun with the '72 340 and 3:91 sure grip, it wasnt a fun car to stay in for long periods of time. So I made sure the main focus is finding the right stuff for my Polara, as far as I am concerned as long as the hood is shiny and the interior is nice, I'll be happy driving down the road...Not to mention, performance parts are in stock at most times. 71 Polara interior parts aren't as readily available...

PS: yes that's a crappy pepboys shifter in the Cordoba. It worked and was cheap. Seems like I couldn't find the correct linkage at the time and I searched for an alternative instead of digging deeper. Now they are all over the place.

I used to deliver Pizza at the bar I was working at in that car. The looks I'd get pulling up to people's homes was priceless.
