8 1/4 Diff Service

I have no clue how long it’s been since the last diff service on my Fury. Should I suck the oil out with a pump and put new stuff in or should I pop the cover, fully drain it and inspect the insides?

If I pop the cover I already have a new fel pro gasket and black RTV for the reassembly.

It is usually best to pull the cover. Take a tool magnet and check the bottom of the case for any metal that might have worn off and put it back together. Use a little RTV black sealant on the gasket and be sure the bolts are properly torqued. This is also a good time to inspect the gears for pitting or other signs of distress.

Oil actually looked pretty fresh, so this probably wasn’t need, but it’s better to know. Now off to scrape some gasket.
