Old Man with a Hat
Had to drive up to Fairfield to a Pick 'n Pull to get a transmission shift cable for my wife's Sable. She was getting gas Thursday night and when she finished and went to put the car in drive it didn't go. Got towed home where I arrived 1 minute before the tow truck. Driver thought it was the transmission range sensor as we could move it manually and shift the car. Upon furthe checking it turned out the cable snapped somewhere in the firewall region. Part no longer made and NOS ones at $100 on eBay. So my wife and I went to the junkyard to pick out two since the yard is chock full of mid size cars from Ford, GM and Chrysler, What is truly amazing is that no Taurus/Sable I looked at from 96-99 (33 of them) went past 134,000 miles. My wife's is at 198,500 now. Nonetheless, we got two fro $20 a piece. When I pulled in and parked way off from the mob of cars I saw these two behind an A/C shop. Believe it or not the quarters looked good. The 330 is stripped out completely. The 800 is intact.
