I usually go to Lowes and purchase poison traps which I set up in mouse likely places in my garage. OTOH, I like to use old antifreeze in a tub as solvent. It's the only mouse trap with a kill this year.

good live trap is a peanut butter cookie at the bottom of an empty trash can. they jump in to get the cookie then can't jump out. just leave the can next to something they can climb for a jump off point.

I use sticky traps and place them along the walls.
I want to see the mice, toss them in the burn pile and not have them run into a corner and die...

We used to have black snakes nearby, but I haven't seen one recently. I watched one at full speed. They are incredibly fast. Maybe the mice will attract them to return. Or maybe I need to get on a snake blog and issue invitations.
