Another orphan found our driveway...

Aahhh Caravan seats back when we made them comfortable not like the current thin foamed buckboards we are saddled with today. Looks great Zac!

Some sound deadner, carpet, door panels and you will be ready for what ever job you can think of.

With the car down and out waiting on trans money. Gives me some time to get back on this old beast.

Took the seats back out to finish the floor. Had to strip it down again. The new bare metal turned straight to surface rust. Didn't help the windshield had a couple leaks, and the door seals weren't in yet lol.

I put some flowing window sealant between the windshield gasket, and body. Seemed to do the trick. Also got the new door seals installed. Much better. Everything is sealing pretty good, accept for the vent windows. Nothing I can really do there...

After stripping the floor, it got primed, and seam sealed. I also did a little fiberglass work in a few difficult areas. Today I put a couple healthy coats of rustoleum on. I can't wait to get the new carpet, and sill plates in. Will drastically change the look I believe.

I also got the new emblems from the other thread installed. Still haven't heard back from the decal guy. I'll get up with him soon.

She's looking good:thumbsup:

Been there. I could never completely seal my right side vent window in my 76, tiny drip right at the front corner.

Yea, same here. Mostly on the passenger side, but a little on the driver side too. Their new seals, but not perfect I guess.

Looking great Zack. Keep up the good work. How's she running?

Thanks!

She doing good. She's been making a few trips to work here and there. Throws a fit every once in a while lol.

The power steering return hose blew. Ofcoarse couldn't find a replacement locally. I just cut the metal tubing ends, and clamped a hose on for a temp fix for now.

There's a squeal that I can't find on the front of the motor. The whole front of the engine has new parts now lol. Still can't pin point it. Thinking it's gotta be the power steering pump. water pump, fan clutch, alternator, power steering pump, a/c clutch, belts, all been replaced and still a squeal.

Still need to get the drivers side valve cover sealed better as well.

This one might be going to the Garlits show this year.

There should be no real pressure on the return line, that fix is fine until you want something prettier.

For the squeal try spraying a bunch of wd40 or similar at the front crank seal... I've had them get dry after a water pump failure or engine cleaning.

I tried the airplane gasket company Jer recommended for my VC before Carlisle and am thrilled with the success. Valve Cover Gaskets – Silicone Gaskets – Real Gaskets Tennessee

Thanks for that link Jeff! I'm sick of the weeping.
All credit goes to Jer... I just regurgitated the information. Followed their directions and worked triple hard to keep everything clean... torque evenly and use their specs... the only thing resembling tough was pushing the oversized tabs onto the VC... they cut a little when going on, but hold great for assembly.

Hopefully she should be a little more insulated now. Sound deadening in, as well as the carpet going in. Still need to paint the passenger side seat bracket.

Been undoing billy bobs wiring.. ugh. He had the dually fender lights wired to a switch in the cab. Why not splice em in with the marker lights? Oh just another hole to drill in the dash.

Even better, the dually light bezels are ones that are supposed to ground out to what they are attaching too. He really only had a hot wire going to them, and thought they would ground out on the fiberglass fenders.

The CB had a hot wire going to the starter relay. With the ground wire just wrapped around the accelerator pedal mount.

I'm astonished the truck made it this long without burning to the ground. Can imagine what the rest of the truck has been like.

We need to order some SEM paint. I'll pull the center to restore once it gets here, along with the rear panels. Was hoping to have enough sound deadener left to do the walls of the cab. But used it all up on the floor.

She is looking a lot better!

A before shot.

Damn, you cleaned up that carpet good. When I had mine, I put a couple of toggles in the truck, too. One to flash the headlights, and another to cycle the wipers for a home-made intermittent system. I installed them on the vertical part of the console, semi-hidden by the overhang of the console lid, as shown in the picture. Much easier to reach there than go for the switch on the dash for a quick wipe.

There was no saving that old carpet lol. Also it was some Home Depot rug special kinda cut to fit. That thing stunk to high hell! I got reminded of it when messing with the gas pedal. A few strangs were wrapped around the bolts, couldn't get that smell off my hands for a couple hours.

The new aftermarket sill plates are nice, but awe fully thin.

I don't mind some toggle switches, if they are useful. But if they are there for no reason, or a stupid one it kind ticks me off. Just another hole in the dash.

Looking good, I am sure your going to be happy with the sound deadening

Hopefully! Damn thing is like a fish bowl going down the road. Needs a new exhaust, and the windows tinted, and we should be much better.

Some will enjoy this, others not. Im loving this lol

Going to drop some $$ off for this parts truck tonight. Should have it next weekend.

She's a '93 D250, with a VE pump, intercooled, 12 valve. A baby for a cummins with only 160k miles. Truck itself is pretty toasted, but motor, and driveline seem healthy.

Couldn't pass it up. Being a first gen, everything should swap over to the d300 very easily. Only "hard" part I've heard is the core support. Not a lot of room up there, and need to modify the 300's for it.

Body is crap, but the cab is pretty decent. Floors are soft, but drip rail, and rockers seem clean. If anybody sees something off it they might want, please let me know. Can't keep the truck here. Hoping to do the conversion at work, and getting rid of the body from there.

More pics when the time comes.

Ah so I really should have bought that orange truck... :BangHead:

If you drive that as is, will you have to learn Spanish? :)
