Bombing around in the beater Imperial

Today we recieved some snow so I headed out to my parents farmhouse to make sure they were ok and assist them if needed. Perfect opportunity to gently slide the all weather C body around some corners without being rough on her.

The gear inside the power vent motor was chewed up, resulting in it being stuck in the closed position. Installing a manual example enabled me to use it until I get around to buying replacement gear and rebuilding it

Saw the gear on EBay recently. Not sure if still available. Only motor available today.

I'd say that's a fair price if you need the whole assembly. Maybe I should look up the gear again and purchase a couple before they become obsolete...thanks for sharing

God bless you....I remember taking my first '73 Imperial out in stuff just like this. Chestnut Brown Metallic, Gold Brocade interior. Bought it in '78 for $500 sold it in '80 for $800. Just to buy my first '67 Imperial for $1500. Came from Hollywood. Couldn't resist...

Put about 40 low speed miles on her today, although I did slide it around a bit. Its length made it easy to control when the back end kicked out

Heck why not? Winter is too long around here to wait till it gets nice out again. Find something rusty that will be a good parts car once it's useful life is over, and enjoy worry free driving

The ATC on this Imperial was not only inop, it was totally missing. Previous owner Greg had run a switch directly to the battery for the fan motor. I redid all of it with a heavier gauge wire and a relay. When the fan motor is switched on, it actually moves a suprising amount of air. Controlling where the heat comes out consists of which vent you manually open and close.

As for the back window, I bought the rear defroster and package tray from Wyatt when he parted out his New Yorker. Thanks again Wyatt!
