well if the rod happens to be bad for the 400 in the 72 ill have to scrap together a rebuild kit for it assuming... I know something that shouldn't be done... that the crank journal is probably damaged from a bad bearing (rod knock)... so ill take you guy's advise and find a kit with the kb pistons... i also have a spare 400 non running and 383 to use for rods ect if they're bad perhaps... I have a cam already though I did have it planned for the 440... might be a little large for the 400... had it ground for a low compression motor so would it work with the 400 if I keep it under 9.5:1? heres the specs please let me here you thoughts... 505 lift intake 500 exhaust 231/241 duration 107 degree centerline 103 installed.. intake opening and closing degrees are very similar to a whiplash cam... my cams ground by howards looks to be slightly more aggressive than a lunati 268 cam... what are you thoughts? keep it for the 440 or good candidate for the 400?
