Carlisle 2020 Official Thread

Now comes the hard part, who's who for us newbies.

I see Wyatt, Dave and Scott but the rest I am uncertain.....................
Newbie:rofl:

We'll have to await for the official photographer to post, Dave's lovely wife Diane. Then we can get the head count.

In the top pic, I'm second from the right, Marpar is to my right chatting with Dave to his right. John, Live for the King, is kneeling with his kids.

My first trip to Carlisle turned out to be way more fun than what I had expected because of all the people who chose not to make it this year. Driving across a few states in 50 year old cars is risky but in the end, every minute was worth it.
Wyatt and Scott met up with me at my shop, loaded up some necessities and tools, then hit the road to meet up with Mario before the long haul.
We made a pit stop and checked in at a hotel in Lima OH 1/2 way there. Unbeknownst to us, we were just a few blocks from the "hood". It wasn't until Wyatt and I took the NYer down the street to a drive-thru liquor store when we realized it.
What struck me was as we were in the drive-thru, I noticed at least 50 surveillance photos that were made off a printer that were posted on the walls of this place. When we drove up to the cashier, I asked what they were all about, and with a dead look, she just replied "thems all the thieves that stole from this place". Paid for the beer and headed back to the hotel.
The next morning David met up with us at the hotel, and after gassin up we hit the road again.

We initially planned on taking our time getting there, but then decided to drive the rest of the way to Homewood Suites, and and check in a day early. We got there around 11pm ET.

On Thursday, the crowd was somewhat light but it was a perfect time to walk the isles of the swap meet and score some goodies.

Besides the Hurst wheels, I found another full set of correct center caps, a six pack air cleaner base for the R/T to replace my aftermarket fiberglass POS, a hardware store clock for the shop, and a few other small items.
The swap at Carlisle is 110% better than anything we have around here locally.
Later that night a bunch of us went out for a steak dinner. I personally was glad to see PA does allow dinning inside establishments to remain open for business. However not all places were open for business, like the pizza joint next to the hotel where we were staying.

This trip was a blast, and I am looking forward to going back in 2021.

Friday and Saturday, must've walked 10 miles on the show field checking out so many nice Mopars.
Here's a few that I liked....

Everyone knows David won 1st place for his impeccable 69 300 convertible. (@David make sure to bring the award you received with you when you make the trip to the 4th Annual C Body Show in 2 weeks to show everyone)
Some pics from the grandstands of David accepting his award....

Saturday night after dinner we made our way back to the show field to meet up with the 77/78 Dodge Magnum club who had a tent near our cars.
When we get there one of them told Wyatt he couldn't get his car started after he noticed his distributor cap was cracked.
What are the odds I just happened to bring the old single point distributor with me as a back up for Wyatt's car. Well, it went to good use and hopefully got the guy back driving his car again.
When we were talking about the cars up on the stage for the Rapid Transit Display, I suggested we should each pull our cars up on the ramp and get some pics, since the C Body Fury was not in attendance. One by one we took turns for a cool photo opp.
Granted, there wasn't anyone on the show field except security, but the the guard who came over to see what we were up to, was cool and let us take some pics.
IMO the TX9 car should've been up on that stage to represent C's anyway.

While you know I appreciate the compliment...
My car didnt belong anywhere near the stage. The border shouldnt have been closed and Dave W's car should have been front and center.

I have a bunch of trophys on a shelf in my storage garage gathering dust, and a couple of them have broken over time too. They are behind some hoods stored on end, so I can't even see half of them unless I peer behind the hoods. I don't even enter my cars anymore even though they would likely win if I did. It isn't worth staying beyond the shows end to see who wins, that is how little they mean to me at least. I love my cars and that is all that matters to me.

Only shows I've ever won was for model cars. Cleaned out an entire show for my age group one year. Felt like a jerk. Never went back.

I'm not in it for winning. I'm in it to be proud of my builds.

Carlisle doesn't give trophys, they give a nice wall plaque. They look great hanging on the wall. ( what few I've gotten ) I do appreciate those, they have the event logo of that year on there and they are colorful.
I obviously don't go for the trophy, I am disappointed Wyatts Dodge didn't pull something.

Carlisle Trophys...................I won one,too in 2017
For the Challenger rental car.:poke:

I need no trophys. I own enough junk collecting dust.
I drive to a car show to see other cars and meet friends&Mopar guys.

Carlisle plaques have one very special value... peer voting, not judging... they are a nice indication that your car buds love your ride almost as much as you. Nothing requires an open hood either :D
