Over 315 registered bidders. I was 313. Gary 312. I saw a guy with a 315 card & he was bidding. However it looked like only 100 or so showed up.

Ok let me add a little flavor to this adventure. Friday morning we left my place around 10:15. Stopped for a early lunch at a place in Siler City that was recommended to Gary. A hole in the wall , standing room only deal. Food was ok. Nothing special. I was a bit disappointed. Went on to the auction site for the preview. I had my eye on that 71 Charger. Looked it over good. I wanted it. There was so much stuff. Lots of tools. We found out later that the guy offered it to a local MOPAR guru for $30 Grand. He declined as I believe that was retail. Later he offered it to the same guy for $20 Grand. I would have jumped all over that. At the preview we became aware that people from out of state where here. One guy from Indiana. A couple from much closer South Carolina. We left around 3-3:30 for the hour and a half trip back home. A bit tired & hungry & frankly overwhelmed with all the stuff we saw. Gary & I discussed what cars & parts we wanted most & what we thought they would sell for. We stopped for dinner at a place called Big Al’s BBQ. It’s a place I see on the way home from work in a strip mall. Never stopped so asked Gary if he was game & he said yea mate. Another hole in the wall place & it was pretty busy. Not expecting much. But wait ! What a surprise. Gary got a half rack of ribs & I got two fried catfish. The food was excellent. If you are ever in north east Raleigh & are hungry stop in Big Al’s place. You might see me there. That was the end of day one. Tired, full belly’s & lots to talk about. To be continued.

Day 2 began early. Up at 5:30 am. Made coffee while Gary got ready. Left the house just before 7 am headed back over to Siler City. We decide to take Gary’s truck because I still had the 73 Fury on my trailer & have been unable to off load as my yard is soaked from a lot of rain. Stopped at a McDonnalds in Siler City for breakfast. On schedule. I got a chicken biscuit that was not fully cooked. Couldn’t eat it. Put it back in the bag & sat it on the seat of the truck while Gary forged ahead at 70 MPH to get us there before 9 am. We arrived early & where lead to a parking spot. Lots of big trucks with trailers & some Rollbacks already there. We walked up the path through the woods & waited for the auctioneer to get started. We saw a MOPAR guy we knew & both Gary & I have bought cars from him. Chatted with him untill the auction started. After 45 minuted or so they made their way through the woods to that camper. No one bid. The auctioneer was laughing & said can I get $50 bucks. Someone bid & he yelled SOLD ! Then off up the hill to the 71 Charger sitting in the woods. I got nervous. I said Bob you don’t need anymore cars right now. But what if it’s cheap. No Bob no I said to myself so I stood there like a knot on a log as the bidding stalled at $600. Yep this one will hurt for a while. Then they announced they would bid on the rest of cars. We got in position hoping for another chance at a deal. Finally the 69 Satellite was up. I was distracted & didn’t see the ending of the auction. I walked over to Gary who was hugging his new car. I asked , did you win ? He said I sure did. I asked what price ? When he told I said you had better leave before they call the police because you stole that car. After a few cars sold they Moved to a 24 ft flat bed trailer that was absolutely full of cool car parts. The bidding started. We got in position again right next to the auctioneer & both of us bid often on all sorts of stuff. Gary picked up a few things & I also got a few. Then it was to the yard that doors, fenders & all kinds of large parts lying out. Again Gary scored some good deals. Finally around 3:30 the auction was over. People started driving their trucks up the one lane path & loading up. Gary & I had put stuff we won in the 69 Satellite so I kept an eye on it while he went down to get the truck. 30 minutes later here comes Gary driving through the woods as the road was blocked. He made it up. We started gathering the parts up. Gary went over & paid his bill while I guarded our new possessions. When he got back I went over & paid my bill. We then loaded up which took a while. Finally loaded up & waiting for the path to clear I remembered that half cooked biscuit. Man was I hungry. It tasted quite good now LOL. On the way home Gary & I worked out a deal for the 73 Fury that’s sitting on my trailer. So we skipped supper & decide to stop by my house get the truck & take it on to Greenville , NC An hour and a half the other direction. Unload the car at his place & just leave his truck there. And for him to ride back with me in mine back to my house to crash. We got to my place about 6 pm. I got the keys to my truck & it wouldn’t start. Dead battery. So after messing with it for a half hour I put my meter on it & it was only reading 5 volts. Discussted, tired & very hungry I said we need to go buy a new battery. A Tractor Supply store here in Youngsville was still open at 7pm & had 1 battery left that was correct for my truck. $138 bucks later we where on the road to Greenville at 7:30 pm. Stopped at a Wafel House. Gary has never been to one. Finally got some food. I had 3 cups of coffee for the drive to Greenville. We arrived at Gary’s shop at 10:30. Offloaded the 73 Fury & headed back to Youngsville. Got home at 12:30 cleaned up & got some sleep. The plan was to leave out around 8 am Sunday morning to Siler City to get the Satellite. When they ran my card she said, you don't have enough money? Maybe your limit is less? Well I called the bank and was on the phone for ten mins then came back and said, it should work now. Nope still not working, hmm. Then a girl leaned over the shoulder of the one doing the transaction and spoke quietly, "You are trying to charge him four million bucks" Boy glad I am not rich, I could have taken a bath on that transaction!

thats was quite a long driving day , i've did a pomona swapmeet , left early 80 plus mph all the way down , unloaded my wares , stayed there until @ 2 o'clock . then loaded all the stuff back up and drove back to san jose . its a long day by myself . but that the name of the game . swapmeets were a great thing back then . oh ya that was my old 69 d100 shorty with a 383 auto . it would roll along well . swapped in a 440 hp , and a friend wrecked it for me . and orangy did the hotrod reunion at bakersfield @400 mile run , there and back in a day , watched the nhra vintage drags all day in between the driving . looks like you guys scored some great stuff . bob and gary keep to going on buds . oh and gary , 10 cars thats all ! lol . h...ll i've got 12 trucks , and 18 cars . if i remember all of them , lol . but there was a plan when i did my purchasing for my retirement funding . and parts i can't even list all that stuff . but its all fun isn't it . and money is not fun , its what it brings that we can enjoy . so enjoy ! glad you guys had a good day of it .

Someday, I have to get to NC and spend a couple days with you guys... you're both always neck deep in fun stuff.
Summit sent me a catalog just yesterday with this on the front:
Management was NOT amused... she would be very nervous if I went anywhere with an empty car trailer now.
