Chrysler Marine

My uncle worked as an engineer for Chrysler Marine back in the late 60's or maybe the early 70's. He worked in Wisconsin where I think they made small boat motors. I think he left when that division was sold. He gave my dad this windbreaker. If you can't tell from the pictures, it has a LARGE emblem on the back. On the front it has a small emblem on the right side and racing stripes on the left!!!! He also gave my dad a Lab/Mechanic/etc coat with the Logo on it. It was probably something the engineers wore on the factory floor.

Unfortunately I can not find it right now.

My first job (1977) was to take car of a neighbors cars, mow lawn and take care of their dogs. His name was Bob Eberle and was an Electrical Engineer for Chrysler Outboard in Hartford WI. I looked up to him and his family. I remember late '78 or early '79 him driving home in a NEW 1978 Chrysler New Yorker St Regis Coupe followed by a 1978 New Yorker sedan (creme Yellow). Both were factory executive cars and they kept the Coupe and his sister in Colorado purchased the sedan. In 1990 Bob died unexpected and his widow offered me the '78 in 1992. I was going through a divorce and could not buy it. The car was sold to an unknown person or where they were from. In 2011 I found the car offered on Craigslist in Slinger WI. I called him and for the most part it was well kept and in great shape. In Hartford WI. there is the only car museum in our state. It has many makes but has severl Kissel cars plus an area with exibites from Chrysler Marine. They closed down around 2000 if I remember correctly. Here is the link to the museum and the picture of my New Yorker.

Chrysler also had a outboard branch here in Beaver Dam Wi. that closed in the early 90s In the early 90s they assembled sub assemblies, complete front clips for New Yorkers and Imperials that were then shipped down to Belvedere Il. to be united with the body. I attended several car shows they threw and had my 73 Imp and 81 Imp along with a new 90 Imp photographed in a three generation photo, I have it hanging in my room still!
